Hello guys I have just noticed the rpm needle going crazy. Sometimes it's ok but otherwise while driving it shoots to 2000 or even to 3000 and sticks there even when the engine is slow ....Any suggestion

I think your Tacho is rat sh!t. When I first bought my Prado, my tachometer had a mind of its own. It would sit on 0RPM for 90% of the time and sometimes, totally at random, it would come to life.
I checked the tacho signal comming from the igniter using the diagnostic connector next the intake manifold with a digital oscilloscope and found a nice square wave at the expected frequency so signal was reaching the gauge, but the gauge had shat itself. I took the instrument cluster out and transplanted a 2nd-hand tacho and it has been perfect ever since.
I was quoted $140 from 1 wrecker for a 2nd hand instrument cluster and +$200 (can't remember exactly) from another. I ended up buying a cluster on eBay for $40.Declan: 1997 GXL 4.5 Auto 80 series on LPG, ARB bullbar, 2" OME lift, 32" MTZ, GME UHF, rear ARB locker, Kaymar spare wheel carrier
