Hi all
I'm a total beginner so be patient with me. This is our very first 4x4 and man are we excited...and just a little nervous.
After months of research and deliberation and being funds limited, I have finally bitten the bullet and purchased a 2002 (90 0r 95?) series TX.
It's in beautiful condition and I am really happy with it and reasonably confident that I have made a smart purchase.
It has all the (basic) mods I thought I should need. These are...Factory alloy bullbar, side steps, factory fitted towbar, safari snorkel, dual battery system with anderson plugs and cigarette lighter type outlets all over the place, mid sized adjustable beam Roo lights, a rugged looking roof rack, and a suspension upgrade/lift. It also came with an extra tyre with rim, and a tyre only, so I have 3 spare tyres, 2 with rims.
It has 155,000km on the clock and from what I have been able to find out, this means the engine has only just been "run in".
The services booked looked to be in order and the previous owner advised that the timing belt light came on at 150,000km and he attended to that immediately whilst on a trip in Kalgoorlie, and had the full 150k service done. I contacted Goldfields Toyota and they confirmed this and further advised that they reported no other problems to the owner. Being reasonably satisfied with that, I opted only to have an undercarriage inspection performed by Alltrac 4WD who are highly regarded here in Adelaide, just to make sure nothing had happened in the last 5,000km and all was well.
My problem is this. In the manual there are numerous TX features and accessories that are NOT listed as being "optional", but are not present in the vehicle. There are variables on some items.... ie they are mentioned as being "Type 1 or Type 2" but no mention of "if fitted" as you expect to find if these feature were not standard.
Here's what's missing..
1. The "Accesssory Meter" that is mounted on top of the dash. It has a compass clinometer etc
2. There is no lumbar or height adjustment on either front seat. You can do nothing other than recline the seat.
3. At the rear of the centre console, there is no temperature controller for rear passengers.
4. There is no roof mounted air con outlet, or any outlet that I can see.
5. There is no mirror light on the passenger side sun visor.
Everything else seems to be as a TX should be...ie chrome bits, woodgrain dash etc etc etc.
I would like to know these items were actually options or if they were removed and not replaced or replaced with inferior items, just so that I know it hasn't been messed around with. I am hoping that everything is pretty much original.
Finally, I am a bit of a dunderhead when it comes to forums having never taken part before. I assume that if I go to the home page, click on forums and go to the 90 series section I will see the thread that I have started. If this is not the case could someone email me on [email protected] to point me in the right direction.
Sorry for going on so much and I apologise if these question are (to you ) trivial. I look forward to any advice or help I can get and thank you in advance.
Cheers
George
