Thanks Snaga. It was quite a bit decision but will make doing the Center next year a whole heap more comfortable than my double swag. I am going to try and put the Uni-Chip on next to see if that will help performance and fuel economy. I am also quite accessorized also.

We recently bought this camper-trailer & our 90 tows it quite competently, it weighs about a tonne loaded.Click image for larger version

Hey Esses, I think ours loaded is around the 850kg and we took down to Bear Gully 2 weeks before Christmas and it towed really well. Just need to make sure I am out of 5th gear when I see a hill in the distance. Nice camper I hope you get a lot of joy out of it.

I am hoping to head toward Mallacoota with mine later in Feb13 and try a few tracks.

        Have fun.

Well I have finally bit the bullet and put a Unichip on my Prado. I mainly did this to help with the towing but I am amazed with the difference the chip has made the prado feel. See below the results. We went to the Wombat state forest on the weekend and it felt really good far more responsive down low power and what surprised me was how it actually had more top end power at 110 on the freeway. So all in all I feel a lot more comfortable towing now with a few extra revs under the bonnet.

What did the Unichip cost you (ballpark is fine) Nema?

Looks interesting and I wouldn't mind a little bit more out of my 2000 GXL (320k)

I just spotted your jockey wheel Esses - killer looking three wheel combo!
              Cheers

Thanks, but can't take credit for it. The camper is basically as we bought it but whoever the previous owner was it's been fixed up pretty well. It's a 2000 model "Complete Camp-Site", independent ALKO rubber suspension, home-made wooden kitchen, battery in the tool-box with hard-wired 12-volt lights & plugs & 240-volt wiring & plugs. There's custom-made lockable compartments on the sides for the generator it came with, gas-cylinder, jerry-can & another jerry-rack on the draw-bar behind the stone-guard. The water-tank is in a swing-down tub-type stone-guard & is the only thing we're having trouble with. Probably need to replace the tubing on it. It's been compartmented inside & has conduit tubes for the tent-poles. Oh, it has old-fashioned over-rider brakes, which I prefer as it means we can use either car - my Prado or Wifey's Territory - to tow it. Pretty happy so far. Now it's just getting our spoilt kids to adapt to it.

Hey Mr Krinkle. If you get just the Chip it cost me around 1,400 which included all the fitting and dynotuning. I have decided to get a fuel switch to select the specific fuel that I am using and that cost a couple of hundred more. Its certainly not cheap but I am happy with the result. I have been slowly upgrading everything and I think the best thing to do first is extractors and 2.5 inch exhaust. I saw a good increase in power with just them.

I am yet to put a full tank of fuel through yet to see if I am getting any significant fuel economy benefits.
