Maybe a cable operated drum brake could be used. The shoe and crank assembly could be welded to the diff centre and the drum mounted to the spool.

the rachet idea is on just about most of the winchs in comps. the high mount is the winch that most use. well a highly mod high mount.

The GQ chassis has the added advantage of already being 2 x live axles on coil springs, but each to their own. Good luck with it.

im with maixxs90. one of a kinds are great. the running gear in the nissan thats good. but the plan is that the prado will not have as many kgs as a 80 so the running gear will be up for it. the 80 auto that we are using got lock up torque converter in every gear with a switch of a button and can take 600hp ever day of the wk is we so wished to go that mad. with chromoly axles in the diffs with locker up grades it will take it.
anyway at the end of the day we can only work with what we got with out having to do everything over again.

Have you decided what you're doing for the front suspension?
Long travel coil overs, yeah? What about the arms? Compared to everything else you're doing, the super flex arms seem a bit tame. Have you considered X-link or some custom radius arms like these:

we are going to try and run coilovers and triple bypass shock with hyro bump stops to stop up travel and to take the harsh hits out as well and some kind of torsion sway bar to keep it flat when going around corners hard this kind of fornt end will flex way better.
