  • Heater only luke warm

Hi guys, I'm new here but I drive a 96 Prado here in New Zealand. Recently we had to get the engine reconditioned after a blown head gasket from a burst coolant pipe. Then six months later the radiator started leaking, so we replaced that, then the thermostat stopped working so we replaced that too, we also had to replace the fan resistor as it only ran on full fan speed. Now when we turn the heater on in the car, the air coming out is only luke warm, even when the engine is at full temperature (just under half way on the dial) it never gets hot. Both the pipes going through the fire wall are warm and the fan in the heater is working, but I freeze on my way to and from work every day. My mechanic cannot figure out what it could be so I thought I would ask you kind folk for any ideas on where we could look for the fault.

    Thanks
    Kev

Blocked heater core, hose or valve, letting a little flow through but not full flow.

Thanks for the reply. So if it's a blocked core, I guess it needs flushing? If it is a valve would I need to replace the valve? Where would I find the valve and what does it look like?

      Cheers

Kevin I cannot remember what the 90 bits look like. Plug your build specs into ToyoDIY.com and search for the heater. Some cores have the valve integrated as a single unit so you might be best off getting a replacement from a wrecker. Oh and maybe the control to the valve is not working and is only opening the valve a little. Get someone to operate the heater control and look at the valve.

Looks like separate pieces, check this out too
