What is this and whats its function?

Just curious about something when inspecting my 1kzte... what is that also i notice like something could fit at the back of it not sure if that little thing im holding with my hands is supposed to go there.

Can't quite make that out, it's either the top of the EGR valve or; of you don't have a fly by wire throttle; it's the diaphragm actuator for the intake throttle plates (It will have two butterflys, a large one and a small one)

The part in your hand is the VSV (vacuum solenoid valve) for it.

Our domestic models have fly by wire on both the 90 and 120 series, but some grey (second hand) import Hilux Surfs and very early 90's don't

Looks like the idle up control for the aircon. Is your aircon idleing up when you turn it on ??? .....Cheers Steve

I can get you a workshop manual for your model (if you have a mechanical/cable throttle and no intercooler) it's for a Hilux Surf KZN but same thing , it will need to be emailed though as it's a large file.

Is that an import ?? noticed the brake booster on the passengers side....That bit your holding should connect up to the vacuum then connect to the idle up valve (the silver thing in the picture) Also why is the heater tap hanging there like that ?? Should be bolted up the fire wall (well just above it into the plenum chamber) where those aother threaded holes are...Looks like some one has also put in that black cap there as a bleeder of some sort ??? .....Cheers Steve

It's LHD (He's from the Dominican Republic) (see his other thread - it's an early 90 series fitted with a later engine - no intercooler.)

That's the actuator for the throttle plate/restrictor, not an idle up control. The 1KZ-TE idles up via the ECU.
