  • Third seats removal

I was about to unbolt the third seats to take them out, when I remembered --- I could swear I read someone saying that the third seats could be lifted out in 10 seconds .. is that right? If so, how??

Its the 120 series that clips in / out. You will have to unbolt them if you have a 90 series

thanks for that. I've taken them out (unbolted) and it certainly seems as if there is no other way.

On mine, I found the cable from the seat release button/lever was too long (stretched or too long to start with) so the release mechanism would not work properly, hence following the handbook directions did not work. Unbolting does not take too long anyway.

                From Prado Lifeline Post...
                http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic....light=lifeline

                1998(?) ? Easy removable 3rd row seats

The early Prados had "fixed" 3rd row seats, the latter had removable.

                Cheers

                      Rear Seat Removal

I have 97 Grande and the only way to remove them is to unbolt them which I have done. GXL etc can just be unclipped. Must be because the grande's have rear air Toyota decided that the seats would never be removed, probably saved a dollar on the locking setup. Steve

Mine's a '98 Grande and they just un-clip... I've noticed on a few now if they are supposed to come out easily then there will be a removal safety notice on the left hand side panel under the fixed (hinged) window.
                        Cheers, Leon

                            While on the subject

While you guys are on the subject of 3rd row seats. Be careful where you store them. Mice/rats etc love em. Keep them well stored away from critters. Mine are wrapped and placed on a table with mice-proof legs (barriers to stop the buggers climbing up).

Good point Palko, have mine stored in the roof in plastic bags, might stick some ratsack up there with them just incase. Cheers Steve
