I've been bidding on various Toyota 4x4's on the Japanese auctions, and finally landed a 2000 Land Cruiser Prado with the Petrol V6!
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and currently drive a 1kz Hilux Surf (shown here with my tiny studded tires):
It's getting a little long in the tooth, the rust is creeping in, and the power accessories are beginning to fail. I'm ready for a new (old) truck.
Enter my new VZJ95:
It's a 2000 model, TZ trim level, 135,000 km's. I should be able to pick it up in Vancouver in August or September. I'd like to do some modifications to it, a small lift, two sets of larger tires (winter and summer), and some camping/fishing accessories. I'd also like a good set of recovery gear so that I can confidently drive it on to frozen lakes for ice fishing trips. I'm switching from the diesel to the gas powered motor because I think parts and service will be easier to find (in Canada), the additional power will be nice to have, and I won't be using it as a dd so the fuel consumption is largely inconsequential.
On a side note, I became more interested in the 90 series during a trip to Colombia earlier this year. The 90 series is very common there, as there was a plant in Colombia that produced it until well after it ceased production in Japan if I'm not mistaken. They were a common sight throughout the country, and that's what planted the thought in my head that the 90 may be a suitable replacement for my Surf!
I've been reading through threads on this site for a while, and I'm excited to learn even more about my new truck!!
