  • 90 series cruise control problems

Hi My name is David and am located in Adelaide
I have a 2001 Prado RV, Diesel, 5 speed manual.
Great car had the usual problems, new head, etc
After reading this forum and others I decided to fit the factory cruise control
Bought clock spring, CC stalk and clutch switch, all fitted OK
BUT when switched on all i get is the flashing CC light on the dash
I have checked all the tail lights, disconnected the trailer wiring from the loom.
Any ideas what i have missed?
    regards
    David

Have you wired in the safety switches for brake and clutch?

      Hi Thanks for the tip
Yes I have fitted the clutch switch and found and connected the existing wiring loom, as far as the brake safetey switches go, no i believe they are already there.

For some reason this site won't do PM's (where I could send you the bloke's name)
See if it works backwards, send me a PM so I can reply.

            Hi Carco
Thanks for your help, i finally got onto the website today, and it now works
here is a list of what need to be done
My car is 2000 RV diesel manual 5 speed
            1) Get CC stalk, and fit to steering wheel
            2) Get clock spring and steering wheel rear plastic moulding to suit ( these are to suit each type of clocks spring, My car did not have Airbag)
            3) Change Brake switch from Brown top ( 2 Terminal) to Blue top ( 4 Terminal), wiring loom clip has 4 terminals already
            4) Install Clutch switch ( remove Bolt and replace with switch) adjust height with locknut
            5) Find wiring loom/ plug that is taped to existing loom high high up on firewall and connect to Clutch switch
            That It
            Happy motoring

                Sorry forgot to add
All the parts were sourced fro ebay of the local wreckers except for the clutch switch, Toyota did not have stock, 6 weeks delivery and $40.00 approx
So i bought from Rockauto in the USA, Just pick a toyota model close to the year, approx cost $25.00 including freight, delivered 1 week

Well done. I'd heard almost everything was already in place with the diesels.
I'd love to test drive a manual diesel on cruise.
Mines auto and it kicks back instead of lugging. I have to watch the boost and when she gets up over 10psi I know she's about to drop a cog so I take over and back off accordingly.
In my opinion the cruise was designed for their more powerful cars, Lexus V8, 2JZtt etc and it puts the boot in pretty hard to maintain road speed.
Poor old KZ can't keep up.
