  • Does a late 90 series have VSC or not?

I just assumed that VSC (stability control) was only avaialble on the 120 series. But then I found this page http://www1.autotrader.com.au/Mellor...256B55007A8BAE
that seems to suggest it was added to Grande models during the rework in '99, but is unclear if it is just for the diesel versions or not, or is the whole thing BS? - since I cannot find anything else which backs this up.

I'm currently in the market for a 4wd for the family to cruise around town in, if the '99 on 90s Prado Grande has VSC it will bump it up even higher on my current shortlist. (I can't afford a 120s and safety is a big factor in our decision)

    Cheers.

Not sure about VSC but I know a couple of late model 90 series diesels I looked at had Hill Start Assist... whereas the petrol's didn't.
    Sorry I can't help more.
    Cheers, Leon
There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

I got a copy of the 2001 brochure for the diesel models and it says that Vehicle Stability/Swerve Control (VSC) was available as an option in the auto GXL and standard in the auto TX and Grande.

It was not available in any of the manual versions or the RV. Not sure about petrol versions.

Thanks for the input guys, though it is still unclear about the V6 grande. I have found 2 additional websites; one that says the V6 does have it...
        http://www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/_...&page=3&page=4
and one (from Toyota) that says the diesel does have it (and no mention of it on the V6 )...
        http://www.pressroom.com.au/press_ki...0&kitID=20#368
So still no definitave answer yet, but I don't think it has it, because it would need a fly-by-wire throttle on the V6. Electronically controlled diesels are inherrantly fly-by-wire by default, so that is probably why it is a diesel only option.

        UPDATE
OK at the bottom of that toyota link it has detailed specs, and it says there once and for all that VSC is only available on the diesel. bummer.

Thanks again for the input anyway.
