    hi guys,

i have looked in this encyclopedia (I mean the forum), however I cannot find some info I need.

What is the official approach (entry) and departure (exit) angles of my vehicle?

I've looked around but cannot find anything .... your assistance will be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Christopher

Hi ya Christopher, Welcome to PP

With the lift and larger tyres on your truck you'll have changed the angles from the official... or are you looking for some before measurements to go with the new measurements?

    Found this site...
    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...RUISER%20PRADO

    Approach Angle = 36 deg
    Departure Angle = 30 deg
    Cheers, Leon

      Re: approach / departure angles

Thank you for the info and the welcome ... it is a privilege to be here ..... you guys are tops ... I've read almost all articles ... great atmosphere also ...

Looks like I have to do some work on my bumbers .... I do not want to put steel/aluminium bull bar type ... any ideas on modifying the original bumbers or for a bumber that looks similar the original and provides better angles/better protection also?

Thank you again for your reply,
      Christopher

        Hi Christopher
You could always slice the bottom of your bumpers off to get more clearance but that would weaken them. Personally I would make a steel bar and get better protection as well.

Christopher, welcome to PP and hope you find the website helps you out. Not sure on the specs of your prado's but DUZTOY has sujested to make your own bar, this is fine if the prado your refering to doesnt have at least one airbag (steering wheel, or passengers side) but if it does have an airbag or even two you cannot by law make up your own bar. You will need to get one that is airbag compatible. Im not sure if you would have known this or not, not sujesting your stupid or anything like that in any way but some people dont know the does and dont's. Also cutting into the original bar to cut the front of it to allow for more clearnance could possibly land you in trouble with the boys in blue or RTA road side check as it would be danger issue to pedestrian's. I know it sounds stupid where you could put on steel ARB bar, or one of those other bars (cant think of the brand) where virtually the whole front is open except for a few bars running here and there (think mumsrig has one ??) but there legal, cutting your bar wont be. Some one would sue your arse if you hit some one with a cut off bumper bar and they lose a part of there body, even though it may not be your fault (hope it never happens). I know the steel ARB bar would do a lot more damage and some people need to take responsibilty for there own actions but these days you have to cover your arse or you know what will happen.........Raving a bit but dont want you getting in shit where it can be helped.......Cheers Steve

Steve, the guy isn't from aus, so our usual rules may not apply. Quite a few of our Prado brothers overseas keep stock bumbers... I guess they don't have Kangaroos jumping around the suburbs like us..

Christopher, I don't have any advice regarding cutting (try the UK forums), but out of curiosity, have you seen the XROX bars?
