Sealing of Snorkel on 95 series 01 TD

Was just wondering how people with a 95 series T/D with a snorkel sealed up the pipe that comes through the guard and joins the air cleaner cannister ?? All there is is a bit of foam wedged between these two joints. Bloke has just had one fitted and there is no sealant, nothing put at this joint, but looking at it there would be noway this is totally sealed and would definately allow water to be sucked in. Any one got a description/pictures (done a search and cant find anything) of how they have sealed there's up. I am getting one fitted up soon myself and want to make sure that this section is sealed up........Regards Steve

What brand snorkel? Do you have the parts list... did everything get installed :?

Are you referring to this connection?



My 90 is long gone but if I remember correctly the duct from the guard fits up inside the air filter housing connection for a reasonable distance and the foam is just to fill the bell mouth left after the factory ducting is removed. Don't remember what sealing medium if any went in there.

Hopefully someone with a 90 can check for you but in any case I never had any problems.

Hi Michael, yes this is the connection Im talking about, BUT if you look at the Safari website the pipe running into this is the original part, they supply a flexi part that goes from the snorkel to join the original pipe then the original pipe fits the aircleaner cannister. Will be seeing a few 4bys on sunday this weekend so hoping there will be a 95 series diesel with a snorkel so I can check it out....... Regards Steve
