Hi guys, another question about the Prado - hopefully this one's simpler than the other issues I had with it. The radio is locked and I don't know the pin; guy I bought it off didn't know it either. Took it to the local dealer who couldn't work out the pin (tried last 3 digits of VIN etc.), and called the home dealership who didn't know either. The Toyota guy says it might not be the original unit, and there's no way to unlock it; he reckons the best fix is to replace the whole unit! I honestly don't care if it doesn't work, but just checking to see whether this is for real? I've looked at other posts here, and they all suggest the fix if you don't know the pin is to get it to a dealer, but this dealer reckons it can't be fixed - is there really no way for Toyota to fix a locked radio (maybe because it's aftermarket?), or am I getting misdirected?

Hey guys, the fella at the dealer said it looked like an original radio. I've added a picture showing the screen where you enter the pin. There's only the possibility to enter 3 digits. I've tried the last 3 digits of the VIN. Is there no workaround? It doesn't really bother me but would be good to know if there is.

Otherwise try the numerical digits of the rego if it's not the last 3 of the VINSilver '04 KZJ120~Manual~GXL~Dobinson/Kings lift~Custom valved Ironmans~Detroit Locker~Endless Air~X9 Superwinch~Madman EMS1~TJM Dual Battery~Rhino Roof Tray~120W solar panel~Foxwing awning~Bushskinz UVP~Long Ranger water tank~Bushman fridge~Steinbauer P-Box~Beaudesert 2 3/4"~Airtec Snorkel~TJM Sliders~Prico Boost Gauge~BFG-KO2s~TPMS~GME TX3420~Front and Rear Cameras~Ultimate Camper hanging off the back!

If it's not the original then it's possible the code is written on the body of the radio somewhere! Maybe worth looking as you only get a finite number of attempts before it will brick itself.

No, the guy at the dealer said he had no way to decode it. I've tried the digits of the rego as well as the VIN and some obvious numbers (probably tried upwards of 10 combinations and doesn't give an indication it's bricked itself yet). No number written anywhere. Might call another dealer to see if they have any other solution (there's only one dealer out where I live).
