  • Power steering rack leaking

    Hey ya guys
so I found out today that my left hand steering rack boot is torn and is leaking very little oil (I think it’s oil will check properly tomorrow) I’m in Darwin for two day the carrying on with my road trip next leg is down then across the gib river road which brings me to my question does anyone know if this power steering leak stop works ? And should I at lest change the boot before I get back on the road (kinda wanna try the stop leak and leave the boot so I can see if it still leaks ) any info would be great cheers lads

Any oil in the reservior? If it's a tiny leak I'd be tempted to just top up at every stop until I could deal with it. No experience with stop leak stuff maybe someone else can comment on that. PS fluid for the 90 is just Dexron II or III ATF, you should be able to get this at any garage.

This happened to my Prado. Very common. A slow leak that mostly happened when steering on hard left like I left it in carport. You cannot replace seal, whole steering assembly needs to be changed.

I never fixed it, just put power steering fluid which has stuff in it that helps stop leaks. Kept topping up with that. Also never left parked on left lock. Sold it to my nephew 3 years ago. He has not replaced the assembly and still running perfectly except for a leak if he leaves on left lock.

You can change the seals, Toyota have a seal kit. I did mine (a 120 though) last year.
