Hand Brake, Battery and Filter Warning Lights
There is an existing thread with the same symptoms for the 90. Seems to be related to the alternator with either the brushes wearing out or mud has got in an caused some damage.
Some Prado Electrical Dramas (warning lights + alternator?)
The vehicle should still be drivable but I would aim to getting into a town and have it looked at.Nick

Re: Help
Yep, had that combination of lights coming back from the Glasshouse Mtns a while back. Managed to drive with faded lights from Wamuran to Nudgee (approx 60k's) before the lights got too dim and dangerous.
Alternator was replaced under warranty after being replaced under warranty previouslyCheers, Leon

Re: Help
Well I got from Wagga to my garage in Canberra with a breif stop at Yass. Did the whole trip with nothing running (radio, UHF, lights ... even went without indicating lane changes - extremely light traffic). The three lights remained on the whole way though.
I have it going in to get the Valve Stem Seals done on Tuesday so it will be under the knife so to speak for 3 days. After that I will pick up a cheap battery if needed to move it to someone to replace the alternator. Why do i see big $$$ signs ringing up in front of my eyes? :cry:2000 Prado RV6 ~ TJM Type 15 Steel Bullbar ~ Uniden 400SX-RM & GME4702 Ant ~ Front Tow/Recovery Hooks ~ ARB Recovery Kit ~ ARB CKMP12 Air Compressor ~ DIY Rear Door Trim & Table ~ Extended Diff Breathers ~ Safari Snorkel ~ Wireless Reverse Camera ~ Iron Ox Full Length Roof Rack ~ Looong Wish List ...

Re: Help
RA,
Quick check on Fleabay shows brand new alternators for $275 to suit V6 (company based in Melbourne).
Not a huge job to do yourself... Gives you a ball park of what to pay I suppose anyway

Re: Help
Well, either it's not the alternator or I have one hell of a battery. So it got me 30 odd km into Wagga when the lights first came on. The next day, as previously posted, it got me back to Canberra and this morning it got me another 20 odd km to drop it off for the VSS re-work. Maybe I am getting a trickle charge or something. Anyway, it's booked in Friday to get looked at and if it is the alternator I will order one from the eBay supplier.
Thanks again all for the quick replies. It's supprisingly calming to know what the problem most likely is and that the battery may die at any moment rather then having no idea at all.2000 Prado RV6 ~ TJM Type 15 Steel Bullbar ~ Uniden 400SX-RM & GME4702 Ant ~ Front Tow/Recovery Hooks ~ ARB Recovery Kit ~ ARB CKMP12 Air Compressor ~ DIY Rear Door Trim & Table ~ Extended Diff Breathers ~ Safari Snorkel ~ Wireless Reverse Camera ~ Iron Ox Full Length Roof Rack ~ Looong Wish List ...

Re: Help
Ok, So ... Got the car back from the Head Service shop yesterday and all is sweet with the engine. They had failed to find the true cause of the billowing smoke when they did the original works consisting of boring, rings, clean etc. This time they found that behind the plate in the head covering the 'breathers' it was completely sludged up. The plate covering this is 'sealed' on by moulded rivets that needed to be ground off and self tappers were used to secure it back in place (this is fine as the plate is under no pressure). Long story short, these guys charged me nothing and "chalked it up as a lesson".
Anyway, picked up the car and drove home and parked it on the road for the night. This morning, it started again and got me to the Toyota dealer near work (approx 28km). I was driving in the left lane the whole way looking ahead for where I could pull of WHEN the car died, but luckily I didn't need to.
Just got a call and they have confirmed that the alternator is shot! This still leaves me to wonder ... how bloody awesome must me battery be?!?! it has got me roughly 350 - 400km with a dead alternator! They told me they have access to a new alternator and it would be, ball park, $500 fitted. I bit the bullet and said F*** It, just do it, so I can take my girl (car, not wife) bush this weekend.
I can't say it enough though, thanks to everyone for your comments and feedback.
