  • Spacers for LC90

    Hello,

I have a standard LC90 and I´m going to order Cooper ST tires during march.
Can I have larger tyres than 265x70 R16 if I mount 30 mm spacers?

Is there any other advantage if I mount spacers?

    Hi CruiserUpNorth,
As far as I know spaces are illegal in Australia. On the stock rims I have 265/75/r16 mounted without a suspension lift either. I have never had issues with tyres scrubbing the body or guards even at full articulation. I suspect you could go even bigger without changing the rims, but a suspension/body lift may be needed.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Declan.

        Oops ops:
Well if Australian laws aren't in the way, maybe 80 series rims would be better suited to the OP's needs and would be safer than spacers. I'm not sure how the 80 series offset compares to the 90's so it may not be any better. Best check that out before before shelling out on rims or spacers.

Do you mean spacers for the wheels or spacers for the springs?? If you put spacers on the hubs/wheels you will put a lot of strain on the wheel bearings , 265/75/16 tyres should fit the original rims without spacers needed. If you mean 30mm spacers under the rear springs ( on top of front struts )to lift the car you may get 285/75/16 tyres on 80 series rims to fit

I think he meant coil spacers, in which case you'll probably fit the next size up; 265/75R16.
Other advantages? None, they're a cheap alternative to a real lift, which will increase your articulation.

              Thanks guys!

As far as I know spacers are legal in Sweden. Today I´ve orderd 265x70 Cooper ST tyres.
I´m thinking of a OME lift but that will have to wait. I have a lot of other stuff to buy during the next 5-6 months so.
Expedition/offroading isn´t main purpose with my car. I´m working in the forest industry so I´m using my car daily in my work, this results in approx 50 000 kílometeres each year. Except the bad forest roads in sweden I travel a lot at both gravel and offroad because my main interest is hunting, especially with dogs. A dog cage will be fitted in the trunk with a storage area down under with shelfs. Almost like those in "my rig" here on pradopoint.

If you guys have interest of this I can post some pictures during the build!
