What do people think of getting secondhand tyres? Worth the risk or not? I only use my Prado mainly for beach fishing. Buying new seems overkill but safety is paramount so new tyres sound better but costly.
You've got an expensive vehicle. The people in it are worth even more. Tyres are your most important safety feature, being your vehicle's contact with the road. Why would you risk all that to save a few hundred dollars? You might only use it for a bit of beach fishing, but you still have to get to the beach. By all means look around and get value for money, perhaps even try a cheaper tyre. Unless you can get an expert review, you never know where the 2nd hand tyre has been or what condition it is really in.

Trojan, you've highlighted the very important point that when any of us buys a secondhand vehicle that we get used tyres with it but unless they are bald I bet none of us replaces the whole set with new ones straight away. It's important to know how and what to look for and there's plenty of advice on the net for that. Well, I will go ahead and look, at least there's no harm in that.
