Tyres In Perth

Have been recently shopping around and am very surprised by dealers reluctance to make any sort of deal with regards to pricing. Basically its retail plus whatever the standard fitting/balancing charge is even when buying 10 tyres (two vehicles).

My short list of options are either Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 rib, Cooper ST or BFG A/T. For a LT 265/75 R16 the prices range from $340 to $365 per tyre. Anyone recently purchased any of theses tyres? What sort of $$ did you get them for and where?

Haven't got any personal experience in those tyres but just some general tyre buying advice is to ring a lot of places. I had prices differ upto $50 per tyre :shock:
Rang about 10 all up and the same thing, they wouldn't budge on price even if I said I could get it cheaper from another shop.

Thanks for the tip, ended up ringing around and getting a reasonable price but only through some contacts. Every place I rang or went in to were just retail price plus fitting, one place went from $355 to $342 for BFG if buying that day and 10 tyres.

Ordering Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 ribs today and hopefully get them fitted next week.

I arranged my MT ATZ4s through Bridgstone about 18months ago but have been fitted for about 15months now. i paid $356 each for six but most other places where quoting around $385 si i figure I got a good deal. The bridgstone I took it to was a franchise not a Select store so they had more flexibility in tyre range and price.

I also kept the old grand craps and was able to sell those to another tyre dealer for $300. one was basically untouched but three years old and the other had maybe another 15000k to go but I'd be stuffed if I would run on them.

Cheapest i found the BFG's was 325 from bob janes
What did the Mickey T's set you back if you dont mind?

How'd you get MT's for that prices?! What size?

Down here in Melb's I'd be struggling to get a Goodyear Wrangler (265/75/16) for $400 fitted.

They are 265/75 R16 and are the ATZ 4 ribs not the MTZ's. Off the street the best price was $340 fitted.

I'm looking at various tyres and thinking the ATZ's could be a good option, looking for some opinions though, haven't heard much on the ATZs.

There is a thread or two over in the 120 section but would be basically the same on a 90 but on a 16inch rim so more rubber:

I've done nearly 20k on them and was worried that they wore too quickly to start with but I believe it is more likley lug compression so I will still get the same tyre life but have lost a little height. Mine are a little chipped and a few outer lugs have tears but I think sitting on 120 on the northern end of the Birdsville Track down to Walkers Crossing track was a tad stupid and the cause. Father in-laws BFGs are the same for the same reason.

Had them on for about a 2000km now, very happy so far. Much better road manners than the worn out Coopers, noise is higher pitched than the low rumble of the old tyres. In sand they are no different really but on gravel roads I now have more grip.
