If there is one thing I can guarantee Russ is that you wil not have to wait to see the Dingos. Kings Canyon is rife with them. Last time we stayed there it was quite daunting to go out after dark as there were so many Dingos wandering around lookning for scraps to eat. I found myself changing course more than once to keep my distance from them.

I love looking at your house on street view, google,
Altho its hard to tell where the house is, what with all the prados out front.

I'll be flying solo, and on the bike, but see you all there.

Guys, kids and the GTG, are they compatible hahaha... I am looking at 2010 for the GTG with our WA fellows, then continuing up to Darwin as the handbrake wants to see Darwin and I havent been back since 98'. Our girls will be 2.5, 9 and 16. Is this a family orientated trip for the GTG, would love to take the girls for the experience. Gives me a good 15 mths of further improvements on the Devil.

                    Cheers gang.

                      Ok all,

After a great Sunday BBQ and chat I got volunteered [ ] to arrange the Warakurna/Giles stop for those
heading on the Great Central road to the GTG. Anyhow I've contacted the relevant people, and here are
                      the details;

Warakurna Roadhouse - Night of Thursday 2nd July.
No bookings needed for the campground, plenty of space.
A huge camping area (the managers words) with 12 powered sites (avail on first come / first served basis) and
lots of unpowered space to setup camp. Communal fireplace (BYO firewood).
Costs: $10 per adult, $5 per child.
Facilities: Camp kitchen, large BBQ, Amenities block with hot showers, etc.

Giles Weather Station Tour - Morning of Friday 3rd July.
Arrive at the weather station office by 8:25am CST (park near the Len Beadell Grader out front) and someone
will come out to meet us.
Weather balloon will be released at about 8:45am, and the tour concludes at around 9:30am
The tour is free, but a donation to the RFDS is appreciated.

                      See you all again soon.........

                        Speaking of jobs,

We has been looking into hiring a Satellite Phone - 21 Days .. $385 + access rate and calls. Maybe a bit expensive.
If we travel in numbers do we really need one?

                        Russ

Ps Leachy,Jeffs,Pomp and Gary. To confirm we are doing Boggy hole after the trip.
So that is the 11 July and 12 July in the bush. The 13 July back at Yulara Resort at Ayers Rock.(we need to book spots?)

                          Russ,

Considering the return path to WA we are now planning I don't think we need a Sat. phone. What is everyone else's opinion?
I've started another thread specifically for the return trip to WA via Boggy Hole.

I will be carrying a Sat phone, Russ, Gary and I are sharing the cost as we will be doing the whole trip together. I got a very good rental deal from a customer of mine.

Following our meeting at Leachy's house it was my job to find links for A Reserve permits. There are two we have to apply for, which are free I have applied for both of them, the WA came through the following day the NT one is still to come (via email). WA permit is for GOLDFIELDS-Great Central Rd, Laverton to Uluru. The NT is for Uluru to WA border. Easy to follow, just need to work out your dates and add all of the people that will be in your vehicle. Cheers Jen
