  • Recommended pre purchase inspection in Sydney for Prado

    Hi all,

I'm about to embark on the purchase of a second hand petrol Prado - it'll be my first 4wd so very excited and I'm looking at 2004-2006 models in an automatic GXL.

Would anyone be able to recommend someone to do a Sydney based pre purchase inspection ?

Also, what are some of the basic general things to check when taking one for a test drive?

    Many thanks,
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    Are you in the NRMA?

    http://www.mynrma.com.au/motoring/bu...inspection.htm

What ever they charge per year is well worth the membership, IMHO.

These guys are in NSW, QLD and VIC. I used them when i bought a car from QLD and was very happy. However, I cant speak for the NSW team.

I'm near Strathfield but can travel - the car could be anywhere in the sydney metro so looking for any suggestions, main thing is getting someone that'll do a decent job and knows what faults to look for ain a Prado to get a sense for any upfront repairs.

            Thanks,
            Sam

I know NRMA will refuse to do inspections in some parts of Sydney due to the numbers of cars that have been sold as repairable write-offs. I spoke to a Toyota sales guy in near Parramatta, Merrylands who said they are weary of Prado's in the area, again because there are so many doggie people selling written off ones.
