Financed amount is 68k but a residual of 31k remains after 4 years. So interest gets paid over the full financed amount. The rest is 37k over 48 Months. Cheers, Fred

All depends on the residual amount, $68K with $31k works out just over 1% interest, $1500/mth payment at 1% over 4yrs would only be $2.6K residual, basically paying it off. "Shifty little buggers" indeed. Trouble is haven't found a "decent" dealer yet, see what the weekend brings, they certainly don't seem all that keen to sell a car.

backs up my comments about talking to an experienced finance broker. Car dealers are there for a sale dont make the mistake in thinking they are trying to save you money...

Ok had a great chat with what seem to be an honest dealer, seems TMC are keeping the 2013 prices higher by not passing on sell thru rebates to offset the 1% interest rate. The premium they are charging, plus lower resale (unless you go for guaranteed buy back) would indicate you maybe better getting a 2014 plate vehicle without the so called 1% rate yes it's 1% but not on what we are used to paying, "caveat emptor", got to work a bit harder Akio son if you want to win the PradoPoint business!

We bought a new Camry Atara SL in november 12 when they were doing the 0% on camry an aurion models. List price on the car, on the road with metallic paint and carpet mats was 46,000, we got it for 38,000 with tint, carpet, seat and paint protection (got sucked in i know) on the 0% rate, only catch was we had to choose a colour they had in stock, pearl white, silver or black and we wanted graphite, we found out there was a 4 month wait on a graphite SL so we got a black one and couldn't be happier.
If they wont budge on price cause of the finance rate, find another dealer, the first dealer laughed at us when i told them what i wanted to pay. We're laughing now.

The 1% finance rate is being extended into April, it was due to finish today 31/3 but will also include 14 built and complied vehicles. I was told this by the dealer I'm liaising with last week when I made enquiries about a Prado, and he told me to wait until today to sign. I paid cash for our Kluger 2 years back from him, so he looked after me again.

Originally only available to 2013 built vehicles, but it will be extended to cover 2014 vehicles from tomorrow. It is correct that the price is inflated to offset the cheap finance. I was told by a number of dealers that Toyota Finance take $4700 on Prado deals from the dealer, so they need to recoup what they can of that, hence the cash price is about $60k, finance price on 1% deal up to $68k as I would think the $4700 Toyota Finance gouge is most of their profit.

I signed today for a Feb14 built, March complied GXL with metallic paint $63k drive away. $3500 more than the cash price, but I would pay significantly more than that in interest on regular finance rates.

Well that is a lot better price than what was being quoted by some dealer like close to 70k or little over. Well I know of few people who have gone on to other vehicles because they were just disgusted by the way dealers were treating them, having said that they could choose a vehicle that could suit their needs elsewhere.
