What I am trying to say is its about time they got Disc brakes all round. I'm also keen to see a Ranger, BT50 or Hilux dual cab with 1 tonne in the rear?
You can name a ute in this category that's good for 1 tonne and is made by Toyota? Don't include 4x2 utes because we aren't talking about 4x2 utes.

I like them. I want to get one for the wife for her work car. Bit of lift, bullbar, bigger tyres. I think they'll come up looking great. Only issue, as already mentioned is going to be the range with the smaller tank.

My point was - that the price ratio between the Thai top spec Fortuner and the Hilux is nearly 1.40 to 1. The top variations will be minimal anyway. The other vehicle grades too are a similar ratio. If we put that same ratio for the new Hilux/Fortuner then the Fortuner looks like an expensive machine.

PS - I'll bet my left nut the Thai top spec Hilux will very similar to the Aussie top spec - looking at both the Aussie and Thai websites - they look identical and the specs match. Any variation will be small. Same goes for the Fortuner. Australia is a premium market (for Toyota) so we nearly always get the top spec vehicles as well as some of the Pov packs. A lot of other countries certainly get much lower spec models than even our base models. The Prado is a prime example.

I have to say as someone who was hanging out for the new Hilux to park next to the Prado and knowing they have had years to look at the competition and slaughter them with a Ranger sized more powerful and refined Dual cab ute the new Hilux details so far are more than underwhelming.
I mean at the very basic level a Hilux with drum brakes still is nothing more than a joke. Its like Toyota have decided we can kick back now and produce any shite and people will buy it.

I'll wait and see it come out but they need to lift their game all round and produce vehicles that made them who they are.

If you consider that the new Hilux is listed over their Thai website @ 1.14m Baht which is around $44k Aussie. That is for the top of the wazza spec - diesel dual-cab with Auto. Their new Fortuner is 1.6m Baht which is around $61k Aussie as mentioned earlier. That means the new top spec Fortuner could be 38% more pricier than the new Hilux when it arrives in a couple of month. I reckon the new top spec Hilux will be around $55-60k drive away when it arrives so the new Fortuner could be very expensive when it gets here - could be $75-80k by those maths. Now way Toyota will sell any of them at that price though. Hopefully they can bring in the new model for fully specced at around $65k max. Time will tell though.

So far the signs are not good.

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing - surely Tojo can't have the Prado with the same tune of the Fortuner - hopefully it will have more kw & nm for it's dearer price and heavier weight
