Hi guys, after lurking around here for a while, and being without a 4wd for a number of years, I finally put down a deposit on a Prado on Friday. Got the following:

White GX auto diesel five seater
ARB deluxe winch bar
OME suspension kit
Toyota towbar
Snorkel
Redarc dual battery system
King Rebel wheels in black satin
Cooper ST Maxx 265/70R17's
Window tint
headlight protectors
Bonnet protector
Floor mats
Cargo area mat
Full tank of diesel

All fitted and on the road for a smidge under $65K.

Only a few hundred, but it still stings having to pay any LCT on a base model 4wd.

My brand new Prado 150 GXL / Auto / Diesel

Cost me 57,800 on the road today from the dealer.

Should I be happy with that price:-D

On a side note. I was asking why my dealer kept saying "we want to sell to you because you are local"

It was explained to me that Toyota set them targets for having 55% of their customer residing in their dealership territory. So do what I did. Ring around all the non-local dealers and get the lowest price you can and then approach you local dealer and they will match that deal.

Hi guys, I've been eyeing off 4wd's for a while and been waiting for a good excuse to pounce on one/get it past the better half. Thankfully a move back to Brisbane from Melbourne and having only one small car that she drives to work everyday has forced our hand - so after much research, banter with enthusiasts and negotiation I just popped a deposit down on this:

New 2013 GXL auto diesel (Graphite)
Floor mats (Rubber)
Cargo mat (Rubber)

On road for $58,630. Pretty happy with that deal! Was a good time of month to get in I think.

I am tossing up whether to look at tinting through the dealer also. Anyone suggest doing this through dealer (probably about $650) or better off going somewhere else for good quality cheaper.

Picking up on Saturday or Monday - It's like Christmas!!

Hi Scott.

Got my whole car done through Tintacar for $450. They have a $100 deal off going at the moment. They have a 30 day money back guarantee and a life-time warranty with all tints. Cos the rear passenger and rear door is already dark they applied a UV clear film on these and then did a 'darkest legal' tint on the front windows. I was happy with the results.
I've had friends who have had loads of bad experiences with tinting. Just make sure you inspect the job thoroughly when picking it up. Check for large bubbles (Small ones should dry out) and make sure they go always to the edge as I've seen some bad jobs where they have a gap around the window when the window is shut.

I always get my tint done by a local specialist using premium metallic tint. I doesn't look super dark but gives better protection and on my last two cars has lasted over 10years with zero problems. The Prado cost just under $400 few years ago.

I got myself a white GX manual for $49k with mats, rubber cargo mat, weather shields and hayman reese towbar. Catch is that its a 2012 build, with a few months of rego and warranty down, only 47kms when i got it though.

I had my old 80 series and my Celica's window tinting done at Australian Auto Tint in Ringwood, Vic.; very happy with the price and service.

The 95 series was done by the dealer as part of a package with the car alarm, mob who did it was Ming. Probably paid too much but it lasted well and looked great, still not a bubble in it 10 years later.

The 150 was already done when I bought it, book in the glovebox says Motor One. No problems to report so far but we have only had the 150 for a bit under 1 year, has been on longer than that though.

Hi guys, new member here, funny admin hasn't updated a question on the registration page "What is the surname of Australia's Prime minister?". Tried "Abbott", no go, "abbott", nope, "ABBOTT", nah, "Rudd"? Got in! lol. Excited to pick up my GLX prado on saturday . I had the dealer include a bullbar and towbar with a nice discount Will have windows tinted next month :-)
