I have had a look at the Mosman Toyota website and did you drive the Sandstone wagon which is on the web for $79990. However the colour is not the graphite that was our prefered one!!!!! and the light coloured seats could get a little grubby? No tow bar or window tint but these could be after market!! WIll give them a call
    Thanks
    Ken
No problem Ken, glad to help. You're right - it is the sandstone with light coloured leather seats but I tell you what - it was bloody beautiful. I didn't put any scratches in it incase you are thinking of getting it. I was pleased with the power and it was a joy to drive. Can't remember if the windows were tinted - I thought that they were but now not sure. All the best with your search.

Thanks for the heads up. I have contacted Duncan the sales manager and he will part from it for $79000 with Tint and towbar. Thats for the tip and positive rap. But then can you believe a man that takes that game called football but they actually throw the ball!!! Did you happen to see any issues with the vehilce (nice that you didn't put any scrathes). The colour is OK and I can live with it. I supose you can't remember how much rego it had? I presume tyres were the usual Grandtrek. The only issue is that that NSW is a bloody long way from the west (you know the place that is keeping the rest of Australia solvent)
It could be a go. Maybe they might ship it across for me!!
      Cheers

Hi Ken, I didn't see any issues with the vehicle at all. I think the rego sticker was for sometime in 2011 but cannot be certain of the month. Re tyres, I think you are right re the Grandtrek. I remember having a look briefly and I think that is was they were. I was in the dealership yesterday afternoon to see them about putting in an order for a GXL and Duncan mentioned you had contacted him; he couldn't believe the power of the internet. I have found him a good bloke and that is why I am going to go through them. He did say that they have delivered at distances before.
Look forward to getting my own Prado as well. I am due for a company car change in August so that is my D-day.
PS I presume you are a 'round ball game' man. Keep on eye on Stoke City - I reckon next season is the one! We live in hope.
        Cheers

            • Finance and Trade Ins

Hi all, looking to upgrade to a GXL v6 in the 2nd half of this year and have a couple of questions.

What is the best finance interest rate that you've been able to negotiate through Toyota Finance? If financing through Toyota, are they more likely to do a reasonable deal on the vehicle?

Trade ins - Have dealers been offering good trade in prices to upgrade to the 150? Particularly interested in people coming from other brands.

I have a 2006 (first registered 2007) NS Pajero with only 59000km on the clock. It has a lot of touring mods such as ARB suspension, snorkel, ARB sahara bar, cargo barrier, ARB high output compressor (under bonnet), ARB dual battery system, GME UHF, Rhino platform rack, brake controller, BFG AT's (60% left).

I will probably take the dual battery isolator and 2nd battery as well as the UHF and roof racks.

I'm wondering whether to sell privately or just hope for a fair trade in price. These vehicles are still selling for high $30's - low $40's as stock on carsales. This is my first modified 4wd so am unsure re resale with accessories.

              Any info would be great.

              Cheers, Sam.

                Hi Sam

I would get your car deal first - then worry about who does your finance arrangements. Ive got quotes from Toyota and Essanda and they look very similar - at around 8.5% I think - but this all varies on length of loan / type etc - best speaking to you accountant.

Re trade in - research your second hand prices - use carsales and redbook - then you can see what the dealer will give. Worst case you have the lowest possible price from the dealer and see if you can sell it for more privately - if you have the time and can be bothered. I would be taking anything from your pajero that you can re-use and leave the rest one.

                Cheers

                  Hi All
Brand new to PP - great site! Lots of people with lots of knowledge it seems. I like the way people communicate on this site without slagging off at each other. Anyway that aside, I pick up new GXL TD in 2 weeks. Not sure if I did that well on price - I think I did - any opinions? I paid $66,000 drive away. Metallic paint, registration, LCT, GST, delivery and Stamp duty. Base price was $57,093.71 + 363.00 for the metallic paint - then all the add ons started.

Can't wait to post some picks and do my own trip report.
Anyway love this site (trip reports are brilliant) and heaps of other interesting stuff. I look forward to contributing. Oh by the way our first trip will be Perth - Coral Bay - Exmouth. I might even try and squezee in Denham / Shark Bay. That's in about 4 weeks. Kids and missus should love it - me too I suspects!
Any special tips on this trip would also be appreciated.

                  • pricing for the 150

Thanks for that advice TJCAUS. Looking at a GXL petrol next week so will see what sort of figures they quote.

One other thing re resale. I'm looking at a 4 year lease with a 35% residual. I presume based on the excellent resale of the 120 Prado that this will easily cover me when it comes time to change over. Surely a 4 year old 150 will be worth more than $20k?

                    Cheers, Sam.

                    • Re: Finance and Trade Ins

I was in a similar position to you I had a 2006 compliance plate (first registered 2007) NS Pajero Exceed with approx 40,000kms on it at trade time. I removed my UHF, Electronic Rust & Rhino Racks before handing the car over. If you can I would go the private sale route (we didn't as we have three kids and would have potentially been left car-less while waiting for delivery of the new car), I bargained pretty hard against our 150 D4D Auto in White and got a price I was pleased with after much shopping around. I also got carpet floor mats all round, headlight/bonnet protector and boot cargo rubber protector mat thrown in.

The figures where adjusted to avoid Luxury Car Tax so I guess you never know what the 'real' discount is given where and what the 'real' price is given for the trade

The official figures on the paperwork were -
                      Retail price 62803.08
                      Bonnet protector 120.01
                      Headlamp covers 109.01
                      Cargo mat 175.34
                      Floor mats 153.34
                      Subtotal : 63360.78

Less other allowance -8792.78 (This is the discount)
                      Subtotal of 54568.00
                      Delivery fees 2295.00
                      Price excluding GST : 56863.00

                      Stamp duty 1959
                      Rego 331
                      CTP 347
Subtotal of : 59500 I then got a 30,000 trade in price leaving 29,500 to pay to change over, I am sure we would have got a lot more for the Paj with a private sale but not sure I would have got the new car for 59500. All in the past now, been happily driving around in the 150 since the end of March.

                      Hope this helps

                      • pricing for the 150

Wow, only $30k for a 40,000km Exceed. I was hoping to get a minimum $31-$32k for my GLX. Might have to sell privately or wait a bit longer until my lease is closer to an end afterall.

Good info to have though. Much appreciated.

Might have a bit more negotiating power on the petrol 150 as there're plenty in stock at sub $60k driveaway so they're obviously having trouble moving them on.

                        Cheers, Sam.

Yeah it seemed pretty bad on paper but it was all about the changeover, some dealers were giving me more on paper for the Paj but still wanted 35k changeover! plus the Paj did have quite a few war wounds from a trip to fraser and don't even get me started on the underbody protection (lack of) nothing a few cable ties didn't fix though before trade-in

Got what I think may be 2 helpful quotes:

                            1. Muswellbrook Toyota:
                            GXL D4D 57,093.71

                            LESS allowance: ($2919.95)
                            Delivery Fee: $450.00
                            Total excl GST $52002.40
                            Gst$5200.14
                            LCT $6.46

                            SUB TOTAL $57208
                            Stamp duty $1965.00
                            Registration: $465.00
                            CTP $330.00
                            TOTAL PRICE: $59968.00

I realise that it includes Gold Fleet discount because the company I work for has a fleet of Toyotas but I am guessing that dealerships have this room to move.

Mosman Toyota in Sydney was a similar price. The same thing but with towbar was $60,500 which I thought was pretty good. Hope this helps.

                            Cheers

Hi Hunjy, it is auto. The bloke to speak to at Muswellbrook is James; he's the sales manager there. The person to speak to at Mosman is Duncan who is the sales manager there. I went with Mosman because they offer a courtesy car at every service.

                                Roger
