New vehicle delivery times ?

When I ordered my vehicle, no-one seemed to aware of the upgrade that would happen soon. Not even PP. When I first heard I thought oh well if I am lucky I will be happier.
Maybe that is why the increase was not passed on to me.
Or maybe they felt bad that they never offered me either option pack.
Its all good I didn't want them anyway. Just happy how things all turned out.

I've just had a postponement of delivery of my auto D4D - was to be this or next week - now 10/10 (order docs signed on 5/6). Supposed to be on the boat for docking on 27/9 in Perth.

Just a question to those that ordered the old build GXL and are getting a new build GXL - how much difference are your dealers/leasing people asking? Mine is asking $1101. The difference in the car is only the rear air cond ducting and audio controls on the steering wheel - i.e. no 'Option Packs'.

I don't want to go into the arguments about how I signed a contract earlier but now they are increasing price - seems to me they can do this easily.

I have seen an earlier post saying that it is now $1 cheaper - what are others experiences?

I have to sign the new documents in a day or so - so would appreciate to know how many people are being charged less so I may be able to argue. $1100 can almost buy me a diff locker!!

This is how my dealer explained to me about the the price increase.

If you ordered you vehicle before there was any mention of a upspec model being released the price increase is usually absorbed by toyota.

If it was common knowledge that there was a spec upgrade coming and the dealer mentioned that you might not get the older model due to the delay in production then the extra cost is passed onto the customer.

As I specified that I wanted the new up spec model I cannot avoid the new cost associated with it.

This sounds about right. When I ordered mine (4 months ago) there was no mention of the upgrade. I was told then it would be 3 months to delivery. The week I was expecting to get the car, the dealer rang and said he had good & bad news.

BAD - Car would be another month away
GOOD - Would get the updated model.

He made no mention then of any price increase or change to the trade. So I'm quite happy to wait. Theres only 1 week left in the month and I still havent heard anything. I'm expecting another call to say, "it'll be another month" and I'm actually OK with that. My current lease is not up yet, so no pressure. Still, I'm keen to get my hands on the new one.

Hi

Heard from the dealer today.I have been bumped back to a January build Feb delivery 2008 which in a away suits because i didnt want a December built vehicle.I ordered the Prado at the begining of July so that makes it a 8 month wait. Oh well.

Sounds strange I talked to my dealer and was told if I ordered now it would be Dec/Jan delivery.

It totally depends on your dealer and their stock allocation. That is why some people are being pushed out to May 08 and some people can get theirs before Dec 07.

Phone call from my dealer today saying that the car has been delayed again, was supposed to be delivered next week now going to be 26 Oct... . No explaination as to why it has been delayed again after previously being confirmed.

Pretty bummed about the delay, now throws out the plans we had made. :cry:

I guess on the bright side I haven't been able to sell my current car as yet.

I just got off the phone with my Tojo bloke, my new D4D GXL is in, ARB are fitting some goodies and it should be ready on Friday or early next week, but at least its here !!!



I know from following this thread some have had a bad run, but aside of being put back by one month, I havent had any problems. Even got the upgrade without expecting it, without any price increase or change to my trade. I'll be even happier when I'm getting my hands dirty at the bowser, pumping diesel into my new escape machine.

4 months roughly. I was told initially that it was a 3 month wait. Was told to expect delivery by the end of August, then told it would be another month, and thats it. So all in all not too bad.
