actually this prado was one of my best efforts... i wasn't really looking for a car but have always, always, wanted a cruiser.

was in ipswich seeing a client on a monday, one of his mates came in who was one of the sales managers at the ford dealer out there, came in to tell his mate that he was changing jobs that weekend and conversation got around to not caring about making money and practically giving cars away.

conversation went along the lines of

got a cruiser? nope, but have a prado. petrol or diesel? Diesel. manual or auto? Manual. look any good? yep.

had a squiz that arvo, put a deposit down the next day, picked it up friday.

kind of gave the missus a shock! Hey love, we better go for a drive out to ipswich... Why's that? she asks... well i kinda put a deposit on a car and you might want to have a look at it first!



saw all the internal paperwork and worked out at a $2000 loss to the dealer.

Salesman today was saying that if you ordered a D4D today to expect it at the EARLIEST by September!

He said that at LEAST 10 times a day he has to explain the sad news to potential buyers, that they have NO stock and would have to wait until then, they must be losing tens of thousands of dollars.................

Everyone I have spoken to about the new car asks "Is it the new diesel?"

One guy today said he just purchased a new 07 V6 Petrol and regrets it, should have got the diesel he reckons.

All I need to do is keep the next door neighbours cats (4 of them) off my shiny new bonnet, damn I hate cats especially when they sit on my car!

Wish it was that easy to just drive one away... they don't seem to have many lying around at the moment, demo or otherwise.

Well finally my order shows up on the "order tracking system", with June production.

Checked with Toyota and they confirmed that it would start in June with delivery to me late July/early August.

They advised because of the popularity of the diesel engine ,world wide demand and the number allocated to Australia , was causing the delays.

My dealer advised that Toyota had pushed out by 1 month delivery.

Not much I can do but if anyone hears of availability of a White Automatic 120 in Brisbane or surrounding area let me know please.

Yep same for me today!!. Been watching the tracking site like a hawk and suddenly today it changed and confirmed a JUNE build! Yippee

Hopefully another six or so weeks will go by quickly! :lol:

Found out from dealer that the Order Tracking System is still only on trial and only on the East Coast... bummer.

It is going to be a long 10 weeks for me, only hope that someone decides to cancel their order and I get the nod, like some other lucky b....s on forum.

Anyway will give me time to come up with a bigger wish list, from reading all the accessory posts.
