      Rob,
Is the 16th the date shown on your vehicle tracking info as the Latest Estimated Pick Up Date?

I just checked mine tonight and discovered it had changed from "Scheduled month of production: November" to now showing "Latest Estimated Pick Up Date: 10/12/2007".

It would really interest me to know, because I am planning to tow my van to Port Stephens on the 4th of Jan so I need to have the AT's, diff locks and tow bar fitted at the dealer and then get the brake controller fitted before putting about 1000Km's under the wheels (to run it in before the long tow.).
      Regards
      P1,

I will most likely be passing you around the bay in the new year. I will be in the Crystal Gold VX with the NT rego plates. I will be sporting the Pradopoint stickers as well.

      Cheers

Iron-paww ive ended up with grey interior with crystal pearl exterior it may very well look alright but now i will have to wait until delivery day to actually make up my mind.
The funny thing is on Toyotas web site the interior picks are from a Grande with IVORY interior obviously Toyotas choice of colours for that car and thats what i ordered. My job is to talk to people about choosing there interiors everyday if i stuff up i pay simple, there excuse is oh well!

Plucker you are right i have driven the VX and owned a 2006 hilux D4D and i know it will be without a doubt the best car i will have owned unfortunatly not exactly the one i ordered.
Hey, That's the colour I ordered, Tell them to post it over to Me if you don't want it. Save me waiting until .... January......February.....March.....????

        • Well its been a long time coming but I am finally off to the airport to fly down to Adelaide and pick up the Prado, all things being equal I should be on the road to Pt Augusta by 1530 CST today.

Typical that it is absolutely pouring down here in Alice, we have had 13 mm since 7:30 last night and it is still pouring outside right now. this is my online weather station:
          http://www.users.on.net/~centralian/

I like the new self check in feature on the QANTAS website it should save some time waiting in line as I have no bags to check in.

          • Finally my new toy has arrived, pick it up next week when Towbar, Bullbar etc. fitted and then I will install the UHF, Driving Lights, Dual Batteries, HD wiring, unfortunately I will not fit the 70 series BFG's until this great state of ours sorts out its legislation. Now that's going to be a while me thinks

            • Grey with the crystal pearl huh? Well the white Prado's look completely fine with the grey interior in my opinion. I've only ever seen the Crystal Pearl's on the road, but I imagine the Ivory coloured interior would suit those better as it would be less of a contrast. However, you can really be surprised what tones and colours do actually fit together. But I guess you knew that with your profession . But yeah Moto, it isn't what you ordered and that's the part that rankles. You might be able to lever some benefit from the stuff up in the form of some extra's. However I think at my dealer there'd be zilch chance of that.

I guess the thing will be to see if you can live with it. If not I guess see how much they might be willing to jump if you ask them to order another "correct" vehicle. You could choose some alternative vehicle colours and interiors, give the dealer the list and tell them to call you if one comes up (buyer pulled out etc). If they value their good name they should pull out all stops to rectify their mistake. Ordering another would, in theory have you waiting another 2 months in the least right? One to build, the 2nd to arrive, be fitted out and delivered. Actually, make that 3 months (from now) because they'd be placing the order early December wouldn't they....

Robn: You ordered just days after me as I placed my order on the 27th of June. I still have nothing concrete, just "should be's" and "hopefully's". Geez so it will be a 6 month wait for you! Seems I've got nothing to complain about then........ Mine was hopefully an October build, to pick up in the next few weeks. However, silent dealer strikes again it seems.

Hey mate I bet you're excited!

Dropped past the dealer today and there was a grey GXL parked out the front ready for delivery by the looks. It was a Manual D4D. I'm pretty jealous of the new owner! Although I'd rip the overbumper bullbar off... It looks fairly poxy... No offence if it's anyones car on here.

Looks like march next year for me!

Thanks mate and yes I mean Port Stephens when I say the Bay. I grew up there, first started school there in 1968 across for the cop shop.

I have just arrived back from Adelaide about 60 mins ago and all I can say is WOW!! What a ride, this Prado is totally awesome!!!! The amount of looks I got from people was amazing, in fact I stayed at Pt Augusta last night and leftat 6 am this morning and to my amazement I had people standing out in the car park waiting for me to start her up, they were all ooohs and aaaghs over it.

The beast is bloody frugal on fuel I could not believe that I got to 986 Km before it switched to the 90 litre on the fuel guage. I kept her between 110 & 120 Km/h from Pt Augusta up.

                      • G'day All,
Firstly I have to say, this being my first post, its great to come across a forum that has a positive feel to it.Plenty of help, advice if you need it. I'm now the proud owner of my first 4wd which i picked up last week. I'm certainly happy with the purchase. After gaing valuable info from this site, i'll slowly add all the goodies. Fortunately only a four month wait for me. the lucky part for me was getting the gxl with the new specs, ie air vents to the rear with seperate temp controller and bluetooth/audio radio unit. I can now understand the excitement ,when you get the call to come pick it up.

                        • Hi all, just got back from our QLD holiday. The new Prado went perfectly. Used 142 litres for 1392kms. That included a trip to Sydney and back from the Central coast. Haven't measured the return trip yet but seems like only used half the first tank from GC to CC.

                          A couple of small gripes.
                          1. Cruise control - Seems to be some sort of timer on it. If it has been cancelled for more than a few minutes the resume will not work. Have to use "set" again once returned to speed. I know it could be a "feature" and documented in the manual. I havent got that far yet.
                          2. Rear bumper. I stepped on the rear bumber to wash the roof tonight. I moved to the right hand corner and CRACK! the bumper seperated from the side panels and dropped about an inch. I gently realigned the tabs and clicked it back in to place. Seems very flimsy.. I could jump on the Patrol bumber and not move it a millimetre.
                          3. Power drop on the Cig lighter and power sockets. I had the iPod and the kids DVD player and a phone charger plugged in. The iPod would cut out every 2 or three seconds, DVD seemed OK and the phone charger was charging good. When I disconnect everything but the iPod the problem went away. I have another iPod charger, plugged that in and the same problem. I used all this the same in the Patrol without a problem. However, had dual batteries in there (not installed yet on the Prado).
                          4. Front fog / driving lights in bumber seem very lose and rattle. Don't care about this too much as the new ARB bar should go on this week.
                          5. Reverse sensors don't work.. but I knew that when I picked it up.

                          Nothing major!

Over all, I am loving it. The power was fantastic on the trip. The hills were flattened and the overtaking lanes no matter how short were made it easy to overtake.

                          Regards

I agree with you on the Cruise control, there is definitely something amiss with this as others have stated the same problem.

Strange problem with the IPOD, I had my satnav plugged in and spotties going but the scanguage showed barely any loss in voltage. I don't bother running my Creative MP3 player on power as it stays charged for a couple of days of playing. I had it playing all the way up from Pt Augusta and I have just let it keep playing cause I forgot to turn it off when I got out tonight at home. It will probably still be playing in the morning.

The Prado was awesome on hills and overtaking, nothing fazed it and it is so quiet I am truely in awe of it.

You would think that the rear bumper would be strong enough as it is used as a step for access to rear seats? I stand on the rear wheel to wash the roof.

The cruise control drops out when you drop below approx 40 kph or if you stop, a bit of reading in prior posts. (could be more?)
