  • Checking the Toyota website for progress of Prado orders

Dont waste too much time checking the "progress of your order" website. We ordered ours on 4 January and 7 weeks later the website still says "on order". The dealer seems to get better information than Toyota bothers to put on the website. Latest advice from dealer is "it should be built in April and be delivered to us in June". Originally we were advised delivery would be 3-4 months not the currently predicted 6 months. The only thing that makes me nervous is i get the impression some people have waited longer than 6 months - it could be the delivery times are drifting further out this year. Dealer says the Toyota site wont chnage till the month the car is actually to be built - meaning that website wont change from "on order" to "scheduled month for production" for 3-4 months in our case. And that is assuming no more delays ! All said - dont bother checking the website very often - it becomes very depressing and there is not even any information on why the delay exists.

    • I agree with Dingo considering Toyota pump out 10 000 odd vehicles a day world wide.

      • The wait has started

After my trusty FJ40 engine decided to stop me from getting home from the Xmas holidays, I persuaded myself it was time to upgrade, well the missus said "you will not be driving that thing that far again" well it was from Melbourne to Newcastle to Sydney (Mud at Menai) then back to Melbourne again.
I finally bit the bullet (either that or walk everywhere), I have my paperwork in for salary sacrifice and my shiney new GX dune D4D 6sp, factory bar and winch, tow pack etc, should be at the dealer "sometime in May 08"
        THE WAIT HAS BEGUN
I want it now, have lots of dirty weekends planned
currently own 77 FJ40 hardtop (head rebuilt, fuel pump about to be replaced) nearly back on the road,
Dune coloured D4D (aka Sandy) in the driveway, lots and lots of goodies to be added

            • Hi Guys, I have been test driving new/used Prado's over the past week & only today decided I would take a new one. I'm yet to sit down a talk figures with any dealers however after reading some recent posts here I'm wondering is this correct.... that there's a substantial waiting period for delivery?

Looks like I forget new & search for a good quality used Prado, there's no way I'm waiting 4 months.

                • ChrisD,

I'm from Adelaide too mate, and I really do WISH I had a four month wait. I ordered mine late Sept/ early Oct and am waiting until late May/ early June.

And Dingo is another Adelaide boy who is waiting impatiently :?

                  Cheers,

I spoke to a dealer this morning & he said a V6 will take about 4 weeks for delivery. he indicated that there was a substantial wait on the diesels. Or is this a fairy tale?

                      • Well done Daz. Luck it seems found you in receiving your Prado a whole lot earlier than a heap of other PP members. I bet that now you named the dealer, there will be heaps of inquiries for the old Prado.

I got word today that my Prado will be landing on the docks tomorrow and it will take 5 days prep on the docks then it will go to the dealer then. Don't really know why it will take 5 days on the docks but it seems I will have the Prado on Friday 14th March with the ARB Winch bar fitted. Wish I had it today as the wait is killing me.   Just hope it doesn't get bumped to another date.

I'm about to sign on the dotted line this afternoon. Worst case scenario is I'll have it early-ish April.
