Just got back from a great trip up the CSR. Great trip, always love camping out in the outback. For a desert I was surprised to see so many trees. Meant there was never a problem getting firewood. We had no problems apart from a cracked roofrack and broken spare wheel rack(self made). We used about 13.5 l per km in fuel(Wiluna to Kunnawaritji 145 liters). The D40 Navara we went with used 205 liters for the same distance!! We must have struck the track in a good season as all the dunes were dead easy to cross(we were not towing anything) and there were plenty of flowering trees/bushes. Not much water in Durba Springs campsite(a bit green) but clean water further up the gorge. Great aboriginal artwork at the Calvert ranges. Came across a cyclist just south of Durba. An amazing guy raising money for the RFDS. 10deserts.com. Check it out.
If anyone wants more info on the track and conditions just get in touch and I'll be glad to help.
