  • How long does it take to get a PP account??

Hi All, I ask this question as I'm getting hammered by people I recommended join Prado Point. I have a work mate that has been waiting for 6 weeks to have some response, numerous emails have been sent and not a single reply.

I now discover another friend has been waiting even longer and has given up.

What's the hold up is PP too full to accept new members??

Maybe this should have been a PM to the "Approval Moderators" since their title suggests they are doing the approval of new membership.

Re: How long does it take to get a PP account??

I have just gone through around 60 applications this morning, the queue was empty when I finished.

If they are still 'waiting' I suspect there memberships were rejected. This could be for a number of reasons:
 They may have answered the questions wrong,
 They may have what was deemed to be a suspect user name, by who ever checked the application or
 They may have failed to put a location in their application.

Alternatively something else could have gone wrong for some unknown reason.

May I suggest you ask them to reapply

I agree, but that has not helped the guys get there accounts. I as I said they sent emails asking about the account activation there has not been any response.

When I joined I remember it took about 3 or 4 emails and a few weeks before I finally got an account.

OK, I'll get them to re-apply. Thanks for the info.

            Hi Wally,
Activating an account is not a time consuming matter as we all look at the new accounts regularly and clear any pending accounts. Having said that, there are some conditions to be for the account to be activated ( as you might have already known this) or it will be flagged for a delete as a spam email. As we get a tonne of spam emails with new account requests every day, we all look for the below conditions to be met in the new account requisition form. Please ask your mates if the below questions have been correctly answered. Please ask your mates to create new accounts with the correct details and everything will be fine.

            Rules agreement:
have you read and agree with the forum rules located in the header link on the front forum page YES NO <<<<------ This should be answered YES

Are you a spammer or robot? Hint: If you dont change this, you wont be approved... YES NO <<<<------ This should be answered NO

Do you use the 4WD for offorading ?:
(This is a spammer trap) Hint, answer No and you will not be approved... YES NO <<<<------ This should be answered YES

That is stupid as some people WILL NOT use their 4wd off road. They have it to tow a caravan or boat. What a stupid setup. Should be changed. Ask something like is the sky red if you want to trap spam but not a legitimiate question.

I second that. Unless PP management has it in for show ponies who don't go off-road.

I think the answer for the above statement begs for a new thread as it will be another huge one by it's own "of what's legitimate or not" when eveyone jumps and tries to participate in the debate.

Re: How long does it take to get a PP account??

I have a better understanding of the process now thanks to Neil. It must be a tedious job going through all the applications and trying to filter out SPAM. I can relate to SPAM it's annoying, at work we recieve approximately 10-15GB of emails a day 80% which is not work related and about 50% is SPAM doesn't leave a lot of work related email.... the servers get hammered, there's not alot we can do about it mail filter software can only do so much.

For the most part, with the number of moderators doing approvals at the moment, if the application hasn't been accepted within 2 days then it can be safely assumed that for whatever reason it has been declined, and another application should be submitted.

As for the ambiguity of the 3rd check question - the note clearly states that if the answer is not changed then the approval will not take place. As with the other questions which also contain descriptions and advise. It only comes down to reading the information provided and answering accordingly.

Wow really? Well I signed up before all this forum lock business and approvals moderator recruitment.... It took less than 24hours to get approved... Indeed, something must have went wrong.... I'm sure if you PM the moderators, your mates will be members soon enough...

Certainly never seen any emails regarding queries at my end, and if the form hasn't been filled out correctly in the first place, then no amount of queries will rectify that... Important to read and agree to the rules, and answer the spam questions correctly, supply a location and a suitable (non-offensive) username, with a valid email address... Approval with that information will always be quick and painless...

I have over the later few hours of being logged in, ensured the outstanding list stayed empty - that means correctly filled out applications approved in minutes and incorrectly filled out applications deleted... Easy...

Re: How long does it take to get a PP account??

I have not had any emails enquiring about membership approval. I am not sure who they sent their emails to but it was not to either me personally or to the admin email address.

We are currently receiving upwards of a few hundred membership applications per day, many of which are spammers. We do our best to interpret those who are genuine applicants even though they may have answered the spam trap questions wrong.

It is impossible for us to get it right all the time unless the applicants correctly answer the questions asked in the sign up process. The big one for me is if they answer NO to agreeing to abide by our rules then I will not allow them membership. Then we have the those that try to create multiple memberships, we can detect multiple membership requests and generally speaking only the first membership application will be accepted any others will be deleted.

All I can suggest is Wally is to have your friends resubmit their membership requests and make sure they answer the questions properly. Personally I do not use the "Do you use your 4WD off road" question to determine a spammer as it is very plain who is genuine and who is not long before I get to that response. It is not in my opinion a very good spammer question as their are many members who do not use their vehicle off road or do not own a Prado but are researching whether they should be considering one.
