I think it would be good to have a "thanks" button to thank someone who has posted a solution to a problem. One of the forums I use has a "thanks" button and a "solved" button, which is a simple way of acknowledging when someone has answered a question or helped you solve a problem.

Re: Thanks button for posts
I know of another few forums where there is an "appreciation" or "karma" buttons, when someone says something good or people like their schpeel gives them pat on the backside , you usually find the popular members pat each other on the ass repeatedly turning it into a popularity contest, people then posting random popular crap rather than objective conversations on a topic. Just because someone has ran a product down that 40 other members have and think is the bees-knees the guy then gets 40 negative hits.
Introducing this causes animosity and stops people saying what they feel , i browsed this forum for 12-18 months before becoming a member and its pretty straight laced as far as a forum goes . I can tell you from experience that when someone replys to a question with " USE THE SEARCH BUTTON " he can expect a few thumbs down for a start.2011 GXL D4D Auto | ARB Deluxe winch bar | Bilstein/Ridepro platinum lift | MT ATZ P3's | Dick Cepek Torque rims | Airtec snorkel | Lightforce Genesis 55w HID | GME UHF | 55w HID high beam | Rhino Rack bars & Cage | ISI extreme rack | Dual Optima Batteries | Milford MXV-70 cargo barrier | ARB onboard air | Prodigy P3 | Drawers & Black widow fridge slide | Waeco CF-50 | Kaymar rear bracket and LED light | EscapeGear seat covers | Sandgrabbas and more...

Re: Thanks button for posts
thanks button doesnt get my vote, and when you get 20 or 30 posts per week asking the same question the " use the search function" it is just the default answer, ie its a polite way of saying have a go and find it yourself. cheers samohad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Re: Thanks button for posts
I'm not fussed. The positive about a thanks button is that other people apart from the OP can thank the person who solves the problem. An example, with the windscreen washer jet upgrades: Matt came up with a great suggestion. Then many people came on board and posted that they did it too and thanked him and the method of replacing the jets evolved and it became simpler. I'm sure there are many others who have read that thread but did not post a thanks because it will be just another post which equates to more data which leads to more costs. So in that instance, a thanks button would be "a nice to have".
