Getting frustrated in finding a dual battery tray for my 150 series Diesel

I got over my initial anger at having to pay $170 for a simple bent/pressed bit of metal and selected the TJM 12" version as my preference. Called TJM, sorry sir no stock. Have ordered it and expect it on Friday. Call on Friday sorry it hasn't arrived it's due in a week. Called the next Friday, no sorry nothing here yet expect them next Tuesday.

Screw it I'll call ARB and take the slightly smaller tray. Sorry sir no stock. I just check when they are coming in, oh.. the distribution centre is out so we need to manufacture them expect late April early May.

Grrr.. Dear TJM and ARB your product availability sux.

Off to call Pirana, anyone want to take a bet ?

I doubt they carry stock for these sorts of items. My guess is that these items are built on demand, like bullbars. Carrying stock for customised parts are expensive for the outlets and it sure as hell requires a lot of storage space if you consider the many types of cars out there which need custom parts.

So anyway, you aren't the only one waiting mate. I ordered an ARB battery tray last week, ETA on that is mid April.

Battery Tray availability 150 series Perth

I ordered a TJM tray about 4 weeks ago and was told they'd just sold the last one and would be few days until they got more in. Drove away and got a call 5 minutes later saying they'd found one. Turned around, picked it up all was good!

When I got home I did a dry run on the work bench only to find that the J bolts to hold the clamp down were too short (by 30mm) on a standard height battery. The spec sheet said they should have been 190mm long bit mine were 160mm long.

Called back the next day and they swapped them for a different (thinner) type as they had no other TJM J bolts.

I ended up getting another set of bolts from Supercheap that matched the thickness of the original TJM bolts. Everything is in now and works fine.

More expensive at pirhana $190 and of course sold out ! New stock arriving next week. Bah ! I think I'll have a crack at making one !

I feel lucky I got my TJM tray a couple of weeks ago, along with type 3 bar, snorkel and HR towbar.
Had them fit the tray so they are responsible if there is any problem resulting from "tweaking" the A/C pipe!
Glad to have a decent sized battery.
Received my voltage booster from Leigh, and it works a treat - specs as he predicts.
Connecting all the dual batt cables soon.

Well I gave it a go on Sat morning. A friend donated a large battery tray he had left over from another project and I modified it to fit. Happy enough with the results and am just working on final adjustments to fit an N70.
