  • Costs of couriers and lack of wanting to transport

Hi All, I was going to purchase some tyres off Skip (pp member) as he has tyres up for sale off his 150, well what a nightmare trying to get a courier to get them transported from QLD to Sydney. Most didnt want to know me unless I was running a business. First courier wanted roughly $130 (fair enough) BUT wanted the tyres wrapped in plastic then put on a pallet so they could be forked on and off, I said are you kidding, the pickup is from his house he doesnt have a fork lift handy in his backyard, she said to ring back when I had it sorted WTF !! Then numerous others didnt want to know about it, one mob would only transport them if the cost was over two grand, Rang another mob this morning (couriers please) and they want $432 to transport as its a one off. Just thought I would post this so anybody thinking of transporting stuff around from one state to another dont end up stuffing people around like I have with Skip. A big thankyou to Skip for been so paitient and understanding considering in the end I didnt purchase them off him due to the unbelievable lack of help from couriers. I have no idea how some of these guys still have a business, obviously its the big companys keeping these guys up and running. So point of post is check transport availability before stuffing some one around like I did to Skip. Regards Steve M

    Typical...

Have you tried Pack n Send? I've used them before, but admittedly, I had the gear on a pallet (small one).

I've used these guys as well - no problems sending an alloy rim from WA to QLD. And not expensive.

There is plenty of transport companies which only do one offs. Did you try smartsend as I suggested earlier? 25 a tyre, Newcastle to Adelaide..

Use inter parcel, they are a broker service that allows you to quote and buy from any of the big name courier companies. I've used them heaps to send heavy stuff like brake rotors and calipers, and lots of other stuff. If you use the discount code ' ebayparcel' you get 10% off (don't hold me to exact percentage but I'm pretty sure)

Hi Piggy, spewing about these bloody emails not coming through when some one replys. I have set the settings as some one sujested but stil not working properly, had no issues before the new site was set up, as had I got your email earlier I would possibly have got the tyres as at that point they were still not sold but looks like they are now. I checked out the website you sujested and it was $29.20 per tyre to send as in, no wrapping or anything just obviously a name and address on each tyre. I should have asked last week about what couriers people use. Even prior to people sujesting different companys funny none of them come up on google only the big name companys who didnt want to know about it. At least Im glad he sold them felt guilty stuffing him around, nothing worse some one saying they want some thing then dont, but not having the knowledge on what courier mob to use (never bought or sent intersate before) made it a lot harder for me to organize. At least now if I see some more tyres either here or else where I no now what company to use, Thanks to everyone who mentioned different couriers at least now Ill be better prepared for next time. Regards steve

Try e-go.com.au ... they're a bunch of independent transport operators who deal in all the big bulky stuff that AusPost cant or wont handle. We've used them to get gearboxes, diffs, tyres, wheels etc from ebay sellers interstate to Sydney.

Cheap too - and even cheaper if you can get the goods delivered to a depot for transportation and you collect them from a depot.

Fast on-line quotes and its easy to email the consignment barcodes to the pickup point to be attached to the goods.

I hear ya Steve. I won a LHR door trim off ebay yesterday for $75 bucks. The bloke reckons the best he can do on a courier is $85 to the Hunter Valley.. I reckon it's a gee up, bit I have bugger all spare time to drive down and get it, so I am shagged and have to pay...

Did you check out any of the couriers mentioned above, I found them to be heaps cheaper then the ones I was trying to deal with. $85 sounds rich when I could end up getting 4 tyres sent to me for just under $30 each, if only I knew all these other couriers around two weeks ago would have had my self some good tyres at a great price Regards Steve
