  • V6 Prado eats V8 Cruiser

    Yes it is official, v6 prado blows off v8 cruiser twice in one day. Myself and two mates one in a prado and one in a V8 cruiser went form a run up through the cooloola national park, king bore track, freshwater, rainbow etc. for a boys day out today.
    On the way up my mate in the the cruiser wanted to see how the prado went against the cruiser v8, so we line up on the freeway(quite day) and with a rolling start from 80k up to 120K the prado pulled two car lenghts on the cruiser.
    He wasn't happy, so on the way home down the beach low tide super flat he wanted a standing start. 0-100 the prado again pulled a couple of car lenghts on the cruiser. So two from two for the prado.

    Thanks for sharing - sounds like the 4.7 litre V8 is a little light on grunt for the weight that it has to carry around.

    No wonder Toyota had to develop a 5.7 litre V8 for the next generation Lexus (LX570) in order to keep up with the rest of the market.

      Thanks for a real world test. Quicker, more economical and cheaper = a good buy.

        Hi Guys good to see the Prado giving the cruiser a flogging, if you check up on the specs the V6 Prado engine puts out more power than the V8 Landcruiser, bigger engine with less power & uses way more fuel, why would you bother with a cruiser when you can have a Prado, I bet my D4D Prado would be quiker than the V8 cruiser

          but... add some decent extractors to teh v8 and it will get back on top..

          dont knock the 100 series.. they are a very decent machine.

              Problem is my Hilux flogs my Prado and the wife wont let me supercharge the Prado :twisted:

                Like i said controlled conditions, no cops on rainbow beach at low tide????
                that's why i brought a petrol, i have had and still do have had a long line of V6/V8 commodores, calais's and Statemans. However i love my toyota and would happily trade my latest crappy calais on another toyota.

                      Further to BillyS suggestion on fast 4x4, I easily beat the hill out of Patrols and the V6 GXR LC100 , as for the V8 LC 100 we beat them only in accelaration but hay look at this link

                      TRD = Toyota Racing Development , are launching an official 1GR-FE supercharge unit that will fit staright to the rig without altering the ECU , claiming 305 HP on a 2400KG car that's 7KG/HP (Sounds like a recipe for a mid-sport killer)
