Hi All,
I've been reading the forum since I purchase my new toy back in March and thought it was about time to contribute.
The info that you guys have all posted is great and very informative, there's some great ideas out there and I look forward to using some of them. I also hope that I'll be able to contribute some of my ideas from time to time.
Here's my new toy ("She" calls it Bix (after the rego)- But I'm not a fan of naming my things!);
Model: GXL, D4D, Auto, safety pack
Year: 2008 (purchased new in March 2009)
Colour: Silver
Accessories: Tinted front windows to match the rest, Waeco 50 ltr fridge/freezer, ARB Delux winch bar - colour coded.
Wishlist: One of nearly everything and two of everything else!
We took our first trip in the new rig, camping on Fraser Island a week or so ago. Had a great time and enjoyed putting the Prado through its paces. My 4wd experience is limited (but that's going to change) including beach driving but I thought that she performed well.... Until on the way home, I ripped the bash plate off ... but I'll save that story for the appropriate thread.
Quick Question (yes I've searched for the answer!) Can I post pics from day one - I thought I'd read somewhere that I have to wait for a set time period/No. of posts???
Anyway, thanks for having me on the site and look forward to being part of it.
Hi all
My name is Ron, married, 2 grownup kids, dog and cat, living NE of Perth, but still metro area.
I joint the forum because there are likemindet people here and I think I can learn a lot here and
maybe also contribute later for the benefits of others.
End of July we go on our first holiday with te Prado, up north to Broome, doing some fishing on the way,
from Broome going inland and than south again.
2009 D4D GXL White
Tow bar, floormats
5 Steelrims
Roofrack goes on tomorrow
Steel BB is on the way
Wishlist as long as the car is
Firstly I'd like to thank those people who have made this forum possible, the information made available here is certainly appreciated.
Well I bought my 95 series about 2 years ago. I was hoping to buy one with a diesel engine but there weren't any around at the time so I ended up with a petrol auto. So far so good & haven't had any problems with it although it sucks petrol at a high rate of knots  I've added some off road goodies to it thanks to ARB Penrith. I haven't done much 4wdriving over the last few years but the diff lock has proven to be an excellent addition! The vehicle can get through those wombat holes at Newnes State Forest with relative ease unlike my previous Hiluxes which just sat there having Rolls Royce moments (fail to proceed). Hoping to get out with some PP members soon.
I'm 51 years young & am separated from the wife just over a year ago. Will be divorced soon. Been an emotionally & financially draining experience but am looking forward to a better future, maybe even find me a decent women that likes 4 wheeling. I have my eldest daughter living with me & my son & other daughter are with their mother. Unfortunately as the kids are now in their late teens/early 20's they rarely want to have a day out in the bush these days, I think the novelty has worn off! Couple of mates have young kids & they still enjoy going out.
Anyway I'm going back to the main forum to continue reading through the thousands of posts...............
Cheers,
Glenn

Welcome Glenn. Sounds like a bit of a tough time there mate. Chin up.
A few of us are going on a day trip up around Newnes in a couple of weeks. You are more than welcome to join us and meet some fo the crew. I am pretty sure those that have indicated they are going haven't met each other, I know I haven't so it will be good to put faces to names. Most of the rigs going are fairly stock so it shouldn't be too strenuous.
Anyway check out the link below for more info. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=6129
Trying to upload an image from Photobucket..........
OMG it worked. I tried to resize the image to 640x480 on the Photobucket site which I thought might be a better size for the forum but it's still at 800x600.....I think :?
Anyway that's at the wombat holes, Newnes SF a while back.
Cheers,
Glenn

Welcome Spud, please update your profile with your location.
Our resident Sticker maker is having a bit of a break from them at the moment, I am sure he will let everyone know if he decides to offer them again in the future.

Good Stuff Murray. Will probably be fairly quite on the forums for the next few weeks since there is the GTG about to kick off around Alice in a few days and many are travelling (unlike some of us that couldn't make it). Since you have be reading for a while you will know how much wealth of information can be found. Don't be afraid to ask "stupid" questions. I do. Some bite but just ignore them
A big HI to all the new members, as Nick has just said it will be a bit quieter on the forum for the next couple of weeks as the Annual PradoPoint Get Together is about to get under way out here in the Red Centre. Many of the regular posters are in their Prados traveling to get here for the start on Saturday. Hopefully you will be able to join in on next years GTG. In the meantime check out all the info that is already available as someone has bound to have asked the question before on here just use the search feature to check for an answer. Also don't forget to check the "Whats On This Weekend" thread to find tag along trips near you, the trip sub forum is also great to spend some time daydreaming about places you want to go and see.
Cheers

G'Day all
Great forum. I'm new to any real off-roading (just the Forrester) and although starting a bit late for my vintage, PP is giving me great incentives to get out there. I'm picking up my brand spanking VX next week, pearl white stock standard but bank manager is standing by. Hope to see some of you in the outback soon.
