        G'day guys and girls,

Thought an introduction was well overdue... have been singned up for a little while and have mostly been lurking in the shadows up until now

I'm from Melbourne, driving a '99 Petrol GXL. Only 'mods' are Bridgestone duellers, a towing kit and tints... All 4 wheels got replaced after I had a huge blow out on the freeway doing 110, towing a mates tinny. It appears that the previous owner thought it would be a great idea to put re-capped tyres on the car

Currently there's 2 Prado's in the family, my '99 and dad's '08 D4D. However this is all changing soon, as I have put an order for a white FJ last week Now the wait begins...

        Cheers,
        Paul

Hi all, I'm from Sydney I have recently purchased a 2001 Prado and am very pleased with it!
It has 235k kms & I paid $15k for it.

                Model: 50th Anniversary
                Year: 2001
                Colour: Green
                Accessories: Stock at the moment
Wishlist: new clutch, skim pressure plate, more keys, keyless entry, wheel (incl spare) lock nuts, darker window tinting, new headunit.

I have signed up with fuelly.com so that I can track my mileage. After a few tanks I am going to send it in for a major service in order to document the difference in mileage (if any).
The first thing I noticed was the clutch is pretty heavy and when it takes, its rather rough and if I'm not using enough throttle or slipping the clutch from standstill, I get enough shudder to shake the dashboard something horrible
So if anyone can recommend an honest clutch shop in the inner west area that can skim my pressure plate when they replace the clutch, I'd be most appreciative!
Other than that, I only received 1 key with the car, so when I get it serviced, I'll ask Toyota to please make more keys.

Did these Prado's come with keyless entry? The one key I have does not have the key tag (small metal tag with an ID number), would Toyota be able to make copies without that?
The only other thing on my list is the radio, it has a scuff mark on the screen, and although it sounds pretty good, I don't like the double din setup, would prefer a simple, no-bling single din unit that leaves space for a UHF unit later.
The standard one has a tape deck, I don't have CD's, let alone tapes

Great forum, I'm sure I shall be here a lot!

                Cheers
                Mush

Edit: will resize the pic, and repost later

Hi Mush and welcome to the board! I have a 2002 VX and it came with keyless entry via a small keytag style fob; I had an aftermarket alarm added to mine. The small metal tag just helps to get new keys made if you lose all your other keys, as long as you have at least one I think you should be OK. One of the keys that came with mine didn't open everything (i.e. glovebox) and has gray rather than black plastic moulding around the top of the key, it's a sub-key not a master.

Did you get a hard cover for the spare wheel as well? There should be another key (different shape) for that too. I can never understand how a used car can come with only one key when they come new with at least three. Anyway, enjoy your Prado!

Edited to correct some info after checking owner's manual.

                      Hi My Name is Sid,
I live and work in Brisbane and am a keen caravaner.I am in the market for a new tug for my caravan. I have had a TI patrol for the last ten years and have been very happy with its performance. I took a new TI patrol for a test drive and was not very impressed with it so a decided to have a look around at some other vehicles. I joined prod point a week ago to see what I could find out about the new 150 series Prado. And after taking one for a test drive I have decided to buy a diesel auto GXL. Due to the disasters in Japan there are not many available. Luckily my dealer had two left. So the order has been placed and I hope to have the new Prado by the end of next week.

                      Sid
                      Regards Cyclone.

2011 Prado GXL. 4 wheels and an engine.

                        Howdy,
                        I'm Wooley, from South Australia.
I've just ordered a brand new white auto turbo diesel prado.
I'm a bit shitty as the dealer said they had one i could have and once i signed the papers i was told they would have to order one and see if they could find one in Australia, which I'm sure is not going to happen anytime soon.
Oh well, will just have to wait...
                        Cheers.

                          • Just new to this forum & I have been 4WDing for some time now but only as Hard Core recreation and have a second highly moded 4wd specifically for this purpose.
Just bough my first Toyota and yet to take delivery.
The Prado will be mostly for work, and a bit of light off road travel/camping with the family so it wont be getting any mods.
