While waiting for RACV to rescue my broken-down car at the weekend, I thought some sort of strobe warning lights in addition to the car's hazard lights would make things much safer.

A google check shows there is already the eflare that is used and endorsed by the Victorian Police

This looks interesting, does anyone know how well this works in daytime?

That pretty much sums it up, doesnt it? But jee, they do look quite impressive at night.

I got the EF350 for $40. It's got a card with two LEDs on each side. Pretty bright even in daylight. The lens magnifies the effect.

Bought a pair of these about 8 years ago with amber LED's at Vic caravan and camping show, use them in the CFA too ( blue and red ). Small and handy especially at night, not so great in day time though..

From the online videos it looks like you need at least two for daytime to get the ping-pong effect, which makes it more effective than just the light intensity of a single eflare.

I've carried 4 of them in my two Prados for years, and yes, they are very visable at night. I remember using them a few years ago at an accident I came across one night, on a bad corner. I used the 4 of them and it certainly slowed everyone down. They are also a lot cheaper now than when I bought mine. Just make sure you get the double sided LED ones. Much brighter and more visable than the single sided ones.
