I got hold of some fuel consumption comparisons from our fleet management system to compare 5 vehicles over the past 1-5 years, depending on model. All mileage is an approximate 70/30 split between town/country.
2006 120 Prado 1KZ-TE Diesel: 12.6 L/100km (heavy foot driver)
2007 120 Prado 1KZ-TE Diesel: 11.1 L/100km (about 50% open country driving)
2006 120 Prado 1GR-FE Petrol: 16.1 L/100lm (some towing incl.)
2010 150 Prado 1KD-FTV Diesel: 11.2 L/100km
2010 LC200 2UZ-FE Petrol V8: 15.8 L/100km (very conservative driver, some towing incl.)
I've also got a 2006 120 Prado 1GR-FE Petrol and my consumption is:
The standout for me is the LC200 V8 petrol - less thirsty than the petrol Prado. On open country runs that vehicle is giving a reliable 10-11 L/100km!
I asked several Prado & LC drivers over Xmas what they were getting (mix of 4.2TD Cruisers, D4D Prados, one LC V8 petrol), and my petrol Prado was the thirstiest towing vehicle of the lot. Mind you I'm heavy - rook rack / pod / water / fuel, towing at max allowable speed. Lucky the fuel is part of the deal!
