  • Opposit Lock / 4x4 Australia Prado giveaway

I picked up a copy of 4x4 Australia Magazine this morning (never normally buy it) because I noticed they are giving away a 120 series Prado with a Conquerer CT!

have a look here http://www.oppositelock.com.au/ for details, you need to buy something from OL and subscribe to the mag to win.

What I really wanted to know though was what type of wheels they have on the Prado, unfortuantely they don't mention what breed they are only that they are 17".

I thought I had checked out every wheel in the world available for the Prado in my search for wheels I like, in the right size and offset but haven't seen these ones.

Also I notice in the Mag that the FJ cruiser is their 4x4 of the year........... for what thats worth given they gave it to the Jeep last year

    Cheers Andrew

      FJ Cruiser .... good choice
Ok, I now drive an FJ Cruiser but did have an 90 series Prado for 11 years and before that, 4Runners from 1985.

Mags like that usually only include completely new models in their test. The Prado hasn't changed since 2009 hence the reason why it's not in the write up.

Last year they gave it to the Jeep, then shortly after they compared the Jeep to the Prado. No need to say which one they thought was best

It's about selling mags, nothing else.

I have read a bit of the 4wd of the year write up, its hard to take this crew seriously when one of the 5 finalists is the Range Rover running 20 inch wheels with 50 series tyres and an as tested price tag of $196,690. Fair dinkum those two factors alone make this a joke. The G wagon at $170k is bad enough.

Pity the giveaway Prado is a V6 though Still I wouldn't mind the CT.

              Cheers Andrew

120 does look the goods, pity they used an ECB, an OL colour coded one would have looked a lot better, still a nice set up rig, with all the gear they needed a v6 to haul it around.

Just read the attached articles published in 4x4 magazine OCULT 1,2,3,4,5 -could not see mention of rims but suspose build up to review

                    http://www.oppositelock.com.au/index...=news&nid=2609

Looks like your winning a 2003 model

"After many rejections, we picked up our metallic dark red 2003
auto 4.0-litre V6 petrol GXL Prado with just 165,000 kays on the
clock. It belonged to a family and was used mainly around town
with a few country jaunts and – most importantly – hadn’t been
canned or thrashed off-road. Heck, even the road-orientated
tyres had relatively even wear and no chipping, indicating mostly
bitumen use. With about 70 percent tread left, we might even be
able to flog them off to pay for a Christmas party"

Just found out, these rims are KMC Addict XD in a machine face. I've seen them in black, but they look very different in a machine finish.

The rims they show in the OLCUT1 pg1, bottom right are the Mickey Thompson Sidebitters, I reckon they're an awesome looking rim, but to my knowledge, not available in a size to fit the prado.

They certainly are, OL were supposed to call me back with specs on the rims but they never did. My own research revealed they are only available in 17 x 9, not sure of the offset but no matter what it is a 9" rim won't suit my purposes.
