Mj I thought the same about the 150 but the rear seat is split so one seat up one down fridge on one side! Problem solved.

I wasn't sure bout the fold down seats, but on are recent holiday they got used daily ferrying kids and people to various destinations. The fold down combinations for the seats are amazing and very useful.

If you have to ask, you don't own one

Stage 1 of our retirement plans. We were looking for a vehicle that could tow and access areas a normal car couldn't. Never had a 4wd before. We have always been Toyota drivers but still looked around at others. Originally looked at soft roaders (eg Rav4) but the Prado provided all we wanted and we love it. Just have to finish setting it up and get more practice with it before we actually retire in around 18 months.

The 95 series was the best 4wd for it's price when I bought mine. The late 90's Pajero's are crap when compared to the Prado. The early 2000's Pajero's still had nothing on the 95 series and are too thirsty. With that 90L tank you wouldn't get far before having to fill up. The best thing about them is the sweet sound of the lumpy V6. The boot is smaller than the Prado's too. I'm not into utes whatsoever because we have various newer models at work and they're irritating to drive. Landrover Disco's.... Ugly as sin! They're too low as standard and have small wheels. Jeep Grand Cherokee's.... Yeah right. Cheap as chips but too small and just about all of them are thirsty V8's - hence cheap. Jeep Cherokees are too small, too low to the ground and have tiny boots. 2 door Wranglers.... Where's the boot? With 4 people in them they're a day trip car only unless you want to wear all your luggage on your lap.
Terracan's are for people who want to fork out endless money after 100,000km. Plastic bash plate, too low to the ground and small wheels. "King of the road" indeed haha. Kia Sorento, same league.

The Prado is also my daily drive and a Landcruiser or Patrol would be too much hard work to drive around the burbs everyday year after year. The Prado's reliable and does everything I want it to so it won fairly convincingly. All the others with single fuel tanks in them aren't very serious about servicing their buyer's needs for travelling off the beaten track. Makes me wonder what else they aren't serious enough about with the design of their vehicles. Load space for touring seems to be a common oversight with various models. Lack of ground clearance as standard with small tyres is bit of a copout too. Other manufacturers have let the Prado gain way too much of a convincing lead in the 4wd market for a long time. Tells me they don't put too much thought into their vehicles for what they're supposed to be used for.

We owned an Xtrail for 6 years and it served us well but was starting to become too small. Working for Mitsubishi, we looked at Pajero but came across an 07 GXL V6 and absolutely loved it. Having driven a lot of Paj's for work, I can safely say that the 120 walks all over them in every way possible. The only problem is that work keeps getting in the way of going away in the Prado.

Thanks for that Hutch, as you can see I have done no research! Still a way off. And waiting on the V6 diesel.............

So we could go touring around Australia. I would love a 70 or 200 series with the V8 D4D but the budget at the time wouldn't stretch. I have had sport utes in the past so getting used to plodding along is the only real downside. The ride is tops and mileage is great. Being a Toyota the resale should be good too.
2008 GXL Silver Ash D4D, XROX bar, Safari Snorkel, 3 inch Exhaust upgrade, Steinbauer chip, Bridgestone D694 LT's, front rated recovery hooks, recovery gear, GME UHF, Lightforce 240 Blitz, dual battery system and still plenty on the wish list!!

                  Bundy made me do it!

When I purchased the 90 series new back in 1999, I wanted it because I intended to purchase a very large boat and needed to tow it and I also wanted to go and have some adventures in places I could not get to in my previous vehicle. Almost 13 years later, the Prado is still such a nice car to drive, much easier than my wife's Subaru Forester, and it does everything any 4WD will do and a lot cheaper than what was then available. I would have loved to have purchased a diesel but they were not available in 1999. No regrets whatsoever!!

I had an 80 series for nearly 10 years and loved it with lots of family off road touring and camping. Work commitments and change of job meant I used it less and less offroad so traded on a smaller 2WD wagon. Still managed a fair amount of day trips and weekenders (mostly photographic trips) but missed the freedom of being able to get offroad to some of the more out of the way places. Spent about a year contemplating softroader options but kept coming back to a serious 4WD (once hooked...). Rover, Paj and Patrol just didn't measure up to the Toyotas and 200 series is bigger than we need now (children grown up) so only one option left...the mighty Prado! Only had it for 2 months and hardly been offroad yet but love it so far. Lots of trips planned - now just need to find the time to lock in to do them :-)

Well the toyota thing was a given. This is my 7th toyota and not one has let me down. Last 3 were 100 series so downsizing to a prado was a difficult decision but it came down to this:- prado diesel GXL = best resale value on the planet. And the car is awesome too! I do miss the size occasionally though.
