Thanks for the info Rob, do the Coil-rite air bags save you having to fit a lift kit? and is the tough dog adjustable suspension worth looking at?? Cheers Baker1

I went up to Cape York in July 2010.
I do not have a roof rack or carry anything on the roof, this keeps the weight low and reduces rollovers.
Preparation of the vehicle is important, as on any trip. Tyre pressure is the most important, then correct amount of pressure on the loud pedal.
Have OME suspension, had Cooper AT tyres (now AT3), snorkel, winch, diff breathers, bullbar, spotties, radio, many other bits and a lot of recovery gear.
Only used a small tarp as a bra on the river crossings, never used the winch or any of the recovery gear. Only used the tool kits to fix the other 2 Pajeros we trravelled with...
I would recommend anything that has been fitted aftermarket have the bolts secured with Locktite, this will prevent anything working loose on the odd corrugation you get on the roads.
Sold the Prado. Now FJ Cruiser

Thanks for the Info Andrew. sounds like seisa is not the place to be. We have travelled a bit but nothing as tough as the cape. I've told my wife that she will be checking the river crossings. She asked " would a croc swollow me whole?" I said naa I'm sure he'd spit that part out!! Cheers Baker1

Hello Kav sorry for causing any frustration...I did start reviewing the 5000 threads but that became a bit teadious. I couldn't find alot of info on fitting a roof top tent to the existing roof rails. I know there is a mountain of info on the net regarding the cape but on the flip side, there are many 4wdrs out there that love the opportunity to share there experiences in a forum like this with some new like me. All is good! Cheers Mate
