I am new to this forum and fairly new to 4WD driving i have recently brought a 07 manual TD GX last week we gave it run on stockton beach my mate said to put tyres down to 30 to get on beach and put in HL we got onto beach ok but when i stopped to talk to my mate we put tyres down to 25. I tried to drive off uphill slightly and it seemed to struggle I said it didnt feel right and my mate had a go and a puff a black smoke came out the front and a burning smell went thru car thru aircon. We then put it into LL and it went a bit better and since then we have been driving without any further problems. Can anybody tell what I did wrong I thought it should have been in LL and tyres down further, but is this all ?
I also have been told my tyres are not the best they are new Bridgestone Dueller AT and have been thinking of getting Cooper AT3 10ply, would they make that much difference? Also cant decide between RV5 and Jet Tent 30X does anybody have any advice, 2 adults 2 teenagers.
