  • Sprint booster- The most effective performance upgrade, questions answered.

    Hi guy's,
I have had alot of people asking questions about the Sprint Booster so I thought this thread could be a place for all your questions and answers. If this is in the wrong area mods please let me know and move to the right area.

For the members that don't know, we've been doing some behind the scenes testing on a new product called the Sprint Booster. It's basically an electronic performance chip that works on your accelerator to eliminate throttle lag and dramatically improve the vehicle's acceleration.

We've had the product on the Hilux forum for nearly two years and all the guys are absolutely blown away by it. It really has proven to be one of the most effective and economical performance upgrades available. Here's a short video one of the members from the dark side made demonstrating the chip on his TRD Hilux.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiZMiMc4lu8

The sprint booster has been mentioned on various forums before, but like a lot of products, it's true function, performance and capabilities were not entirely understood. There has been a misconception that the Sprint Booster does not work well but it was theory that got blown out the water when it won the prestigious best new product award at the 2009 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association) convention in Las Vegas.

The Sprint Booster is engineered to enhance the driving experience and improve acceleration by eliminating the delay inherent in drive-by-wire accelerator technology. This is accomplished by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal while providing the ECU (Electronic Control Module) with a new and altered signal for much quicker throttle response. The actual device contains electronic circuitry that is installed between the accelerator pedal and the ECU in vehicles equipped with electronic throttle control.

The Sprint Booster is an entirely new product that is environmentally correct. After installation there is absolutely no change in factory emissions and it is fully certified having obtained the demanding, German TUV approval for gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles.

This graph shows the different Sprint Booster performance settings compared to the standard throttle

Sprint Booster represents completely new technology, with no direct competitors. Enhances throttle response by increasing pedal input sensitivity, delivering more impressive off-the-line performance that drivers can genuinely feel. Installation is simple plug-n-play takes only a few minutes and rarely requires tools. Sprint Booster delivers instant response throughout the power band, making acceleration and merging with traffic a totally new and confidence inspiring experience. Shift points are redefined and maximised when paired with an automatic transmission. Standard, CVT and DSG transmission versions are also offered.

    ADVANTAGES-
    • Instant performance that you can genuinely feel
    • Won the prestigious award of best new product at the 2009 SEMA
    • No adverse affect on the manufacturer's engine specification and tuning
    • Does not affect other systems like ABS and electronic fuel injection
    • 3 Stage programming which means the performance can be adjusted to suit the driver and conditions at the press of a button- e.g. The performance can be returned to stock settings for adverse weather, new drivers or if you are leaving your vehicle with a mechanic or workshop)
    • Plug in performance which means you can simply remove the chip if you sell the vehicle
    • Available for Petrols, Diesels, Autos and Manuals
Cost effective- At only AUD$399 + postage, the sprint booster is less than a quarter of the price of some after market performance chips

The Sprint Booster is really something that has to be tested to believe. That's why we are offering a free test drive for any members and a secure 14 day money back guarantee. The product is also covered by a 2 year warranty and at only $399+postage, is the cheapest, most effective performance modification you will find.

The Sprint Booster is probably one of the hardest performance products to explain on paper as it is completely different to anything else on the market. I hope this little write up has done it justice but please feel free to ask what ever questions you have. Hopefully a few of the members already running the Sprint Booster will jump on and share their thoughts

Very interesting, I have noticed on the 150 if I go to take of hit the accelerator, then back off for a second (hesitate) and then hit the accelerator again there is a considerable and IMO dangerous lag. Almost as if I have confused the computer.

Would the sprint booster eliminate this?

    Regards
    Alan

Hi Alan, Yes the sprint booster would eliminate this problem.
I have had one on my car for about a year or so now and never have a drama with lag. I have an ML triton but they work the same on all cars.

Its happened to me before too... and this was at a roundabout! Very dangerous lag indeed. I find shifting to S mode and dropping it to 2nd eliminates this problem.

4wd supplies: I've seen this product on the hilux forums and did a little digging around. Seems like the product originated from America. I had a look at the manufacturers website but didnt see the prado listed.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is whether it will work on a 150 D4D? Also, I've read of the hilux boys using it in conjunction with a steinbauer chip. As the booster is modifying the voltag output of the throttle, how will this impact on the tuning of the steinbauer chip?

How easy is it to install? Plug and play or is there a need to splice wires?

        Cheers,

We are in the redevelopment stage for the 150 series atm due to a few little hicups. These will be sorted shortly and I will keep you all updated.

The sprint booster actually comes out of Greece and they do make them for the prado 120series with the 150 soon.

This will not alter the chip tuning but will work well in conjunction with any chip. They are very easy to install, basically unplug your accelerator just above the pedal and insert the sprint booster then re attach the pedal wire. the photo above is as simple as it is

Where is this button and can it be adjusted on the fly?

The button is at the end of around a metre of cord and can be mounted on your dash etc, I have mine behind the steering wheel on the dash. It can be adjusted on the fly, I forgot to turn mine back on when playing in the sand on the weekend and turned it on half way up the dune and held on you really notice the difference when you do it on the fly too.

                      Awesome thanks for the update.

Will the testing involve the sprint booster being used in conjuction with a performance chip. More specifically the Steinbauer given the "reference wire" is connected to the same wiring harness as the sprint booster does.

                      Cheers

The testing will be done in a number of different ways and applications so we have our fingers crossed the results will be what we are after.

Ok just an update on the sprint booster for the 150 series. we have ironed out most of the bugs and just need to work on one more. The problem is that when cruise control is ingaged the sprint booster doesn't like it. This is not a major problem however we will be getting it sorted before releasing them to the public. I will let you know any news as it comes to hand.
