  • Carrying Maxtrax

I'm looking for inspiration for a convenient way to transport and access 1 or 2 sets of Maxtrax.

What kind of brackets / clamps / straps or other fiendishly clever devices are PP'ers using?

    Cheers. Paul

Following on from the 1st thread link that amts has posted above you will see some pics of the brackets I got made up. I currently am getting a new version made up to try out (ver 1 on left, new ver 2 on right). These brackets are really only necessary if you have a cage on the roof also and dont wish to store the Maxtrax within the cage. I should have it back next week some time and will post a pic if anyone is interested...

As per the threads above; buy the Maxtrax Mounting Pin Kit (if you have roofracks) and mount those baddies.

My problem is I usually have the awning on one side, paddles or fishing rods on the other and shovel/axe on the spare. Might have to look at a custom bracket to sit behind the shovel holder.

Tried them on the roof but hard to access with canoe on top. Current experiment sees them placed behind the rear seats. The seats can move forward of my drawers and fridge slide and they drop in across the width of the vehicle nicely. Tip rear seat forward to pull out when needed.

How many can you fit? (2x or 4x) Perhaps a couple of large plastic bags for post - Bog hole recoveries!
However, there's a lot of bog holes with less than desirable aromatic properties around that I would rather not have wafting through my Prado...
In your case couldn't you place them inside the canoe?

Maxtrax have a great carrybag for them, strong and mudproof.

Will that work with the camera on the 150? I am not expecting it too

Yes good point Steve. I expect if your a 150 owner, you'll need to upgrade to a 120!
