I went down this road a few years ago......not on a Prado but a V8 100 series,my personel experiance was to never ever do it again.........honestly in my case i saved nothing, the V8 used so much LPG it negated the change........IMO..........LPG is for BBQ's.
Not worth the hassle.........ended up selling the gas guzzler and went to diesel again......won't ever go back.

LPG and diesel engines
Diesel engines generally cannot be converted to operate on LPG. However some organisations are developing systems that will allow a diesel engine to operate on a mixture of diesel and LPG. Such systems are claimed to increase power and reduce fuel costs. Guidance should be sought from the vehicle’s manufacturer before committing to such a system.

LPG Conversion on Petrol V6 120
We have a Prado 120 V6 May 2003, which is the same shape and model as yours.
After purchasing it we did what you want to do... we converted it to LPG.
At the time, we had two options:- Conventional LPG Conversion
- Vapour Injected LPG Conversion
Both options involve removing the rear tank and leaving the side tank in place. We opted for no. 2 because, although slightly more expensive, it always meant the vehicle would start on petrol and once the engine was all warmed up would automatically flick over to lpg. It means always having petrol in the tank and if we run out of lpg the system automatically flicks back over to petrol and although we receive an annoying alarm (we just press the button to stop).
The only difference in power I, SWMBO & regular driver, have noticed is on some steep inclines whereby I need to use 4th gear with lpg compared to 5th gear on petrol. Otherwise we are very happy with the conversion.
We chose a petrol model because the initial cost of diesel was beyond our budget, and knew we could convert petrol to lpg a lot easier.
If you'd like some more in depth information PM us and DH will talk to you more about it because the explanation I've given is apparently a chicks version.2003 GXL Burgundy Dual Fuel Prado

I converted mine (2004, 120 V6) last October to Liquid Injected LPG and would recommend to anyone!!
Only complaint that I have is the reduced range with a 65 Ltr tank. No power loss noticeable at all. Done over 18000 Kms with it on and off road, No problems.2012 Altitude TD Auto - Silver

Hi Andrew, I'm doing 280Kms per tank (55Ltrs) around town and 320Kms on highways !!!
It uses a bit of petrol for startups but not significant to measure, well I haven't filled up my petrol tank since the conversion .2012 Altitude TD Auto - Silver

I'm looking at one of these tanks to go with a rear drawer system, when money and time permits. Till then I'm happy to fill-up more often to save a buck !!!2012 Altitude TD Auto - Silver

With LPG now only half the price of petrol. The pay back period would be drawing out a few more years than when it was a quarter.
We thought about it, but unless you do a lot of k's not worth it. Also getting lpg is not always easy.Chris220220 Finally a Prado owner

LPG prices went up rapidly due to the harsh winter in Europe. They are coming down slowly and will hit 65 c/ltr soon. Even with current prices all you need is 40000Kms to cover the cost. I tend to do more Kms since I converted mine coz it's cheap.
I agree with Chris It's not available everywhere and only worth if you are planning to keep the ride for a while.2012 Altitude TD Auto - Silver
