Changing from NSW to Qld registration.

I’ll be moving from NSW to Qld in about 6 months. Anyone done it lately and what needs to be done to soften the change? I was wondering how hard they are on interstaters and what mods they are tough on. Do they put your car ‘over the pits’ or is it an easy change over?

Just get what they call a blue slip (I went to the local Toyota dealership) then go to Queensland Transport department to change over the plates etc & while your there get your licence sorted at the same time normal story 10 counters and only 2 people serving. Go to their web site and get the info what is required. I been in WA , NSW and QLD the run around I got was from NSW transport department. The one thing that comes to mind if you have a 120 series just make sure you have ALL the seats in the vehicle when going for the blue slip other wise they will fail it.

What, I'll have to remove the drawers and put back the dicky seats? If that's all then I can live with that. Sure glad I didn't sell them.

Thanks Josh. I looked at the websites last week. The safety certificates seem to only concern transferring ownership which is not my case. Hoping to see some of you in sunny Qld soon.

I think you will need a safety cert (roadworthy) as you are transferring registration from interstate, give RACQ a call possibly

The reason for this is on the vin plate it will state seating capacity of 8. I went to pick up my Prado after they had it all day to be told it had failed the safety certificate as the rear seats were missing. I was lucky that the Mrs who dropped be off had the seats in the rear of her Prado so I called her back to put the seats of hers in the back of mine ....I did ask the guy did he have a problem with them being a different colour as I was pissed that they had the vehicle all day they could have called me to see if I had them and to bring them in when I was picking up the vechicle. But these are the hoops that we must jump through if we go interstate. I'm returning to WA and no inspection is required as long as the vechicle is currently registered in NSW, QLD and I think VIC that was the last time I returned to WA about 3 years ago.
