Which model prado did this come out of ??

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone with a 150 can confirm wether this radio is the same as there 150 or is it the same as a 120 or the same in both models ?? The original owner has it described as a ""150 series it's a 09 model but, MY 2010"" Just want to be certain about it......And obviously you cant attach a camera to this as it has doesnt have the bigger screen in it..Cheers Steve

That's a GX model, same as the Hilux, LC70 etc. from memory the lights will be green. From memory the Rav and the 120 also had them.

You can tell the button colour by the model number. Check the other thread as I listed them there.

Thanks Daniel, forgot about the GX. I was looking at the GXL's. So this unit would be the same as in the later 120 series so would fit myn no problems ?? Now Im thinking of getting the silver one as the wife said whats the point of updating the unit I have just for bluetooth or the additional USB port, she said if I going to update then better to get one where a rear camera can be used to aid in extra safety. We are super safe when it comes o our 4 year old and dont move either vehicle a foot unless we know 100% where she is, either in vehicle, in sight with other half, key for security door is out of lock so she cant open door BUT also having that extra vision at the rear. I dont move either car untill I have checked behind 100% there is nothing there, so now I think Im going to go one with the screen for camera. So another question you may be able to answer, do all of these units that have the bigger screen take a rear camera ?? Myn is an 05 model so I dont have the extra wiring standard as in the later 120's where the wiring is already there. This isnt an issue as running the wire can be done but is there some thing at the rear of the unit that I need to be able to plug a camera in as I have noticed none of these units have a yellow inlet (standard video port on most things) so I can plug in a camera ?? Sorry for all the questions but dont want to buy some thing that I cant then hook up a camera to..Cheers steve

I wouldn't buy the silver one as it would look stupid IMHO.

A mate has the same head unit as I fitted and used an eBay camera so it does work with non Toyota cameras. I went the Toyota camera as my Prado was prewired and I wanted a factory look.

Yeah D4D I should have added this question/post to previous post as Im flicking between the two (not sure wether piggy or some one else can do it ??) welcome to if they can instead of having two threads about it !! Anyway I did read right through that link you put up and seems I may need to buy the additional bit of wiring from toyota to do the job ?? And yes I agree I like the idea of keeping things standard looking and its then also neat and tidy. I can get most things from toyota for cost price so will ring tomorrow to get a price on the rear camera and bit of wiring needed on the back of radio that was in that other link you put up. Not sure if I can get the full wiring loom from the rear of the vehicle back to dash like in the updated 08 120's but will see. Yours was obviously alot easier having that wire in place but I dont ind the challange if it can be done.... thanks again Cheers Steve

Make sure you're sitting down when you call, the rear cam was $275 and the adaptor cable was $25...

Shite didnt think it would be worth that much !!! the $25's ok lol. Thought maybe round the $150 mark. Geez if the unit is say $300 (could sell for more, ebay) then the say $300 for camera and adaptor nearly getting up there for the price of a new VMS unit with satnav and DVD player as well. Ah well will do the sums tomorrow and see where I stand. Might be cheaper to get the unit with the USB and Bluetooth and just get one of those reversing units that go in place of standard revision mirror ?? Bloody hell Ill never get away from this computer tonight lol. Back on ebay I go and check out these other rear view mirror cameras and extras see how much the are....Cheers Steve

As I mentioned before, you can use a non gen camera on the unit which would be way cheaper.
