  • 4wd training in Tas

    Hi everyone,

I apologise if this thread already exists but I haven't found it through searching.

My wife and I just purchased a 2012 Altitude as our first 4wd both for transporting kids, camping and some off-road. As I have only done some basic off-roading with my brother I was looking at doing a 4wd course. Has anyone had any exposure to the 4wd courses in Tasmania - specifically the courses by Motor Safe Tasmania or Driver Skills Australia.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

    Andrew

Have to say I have have never heard of one available to the public. Have done some 4WD training through the fire service but not really what you are after.

Did you do the training as a civilian or volunteer firey?

I'm just looking to learn the proper techniques for 4 wheel driving rather than teaching myself and possibly developing bad habits.

I did it as a volunteer.

A way of learning would be join a 4WD club or joining us on a Pradopoint day outing (even though we don't do to many here in Tasmania) or even ask at your local 4WD store to see if they know of anything that might suit.

Congratulations on a great purchase and just get out there and enjoy it.

About three years ago one of the 4wd clubs approached my wife to ask if I was interested in running some training for them as their trainer had left. I will try and find out which club it was when I get home this arvo.

So there must be a club that does it down here near Hobart.
