  • are they kidding? What's with the for sale rules?

Can someone tell me why you cannot list in the for sale section at will. What is the big deal of putting an item in the forsale section where other may benefit from seeing as many items for sale as possible. Ive been a member here for over a year and for some reason i went to advertise some roof racks and the add was taken off. Im not wanting to stir up anything here just wanted to know why there are so many rules for a simple for sale item, its got me beat

Did you abide by the rules set out in the for sale section? If not then that would be why your ad was removed.

Also, you only have 9 posts... There is a minimum number required.

The less posts you have the more likely it is that no one knows you.

It's there to protect the pp community from dodgy blokes selling stuff.

im sure we are all smart enough to work out if someone dodgy is selling something, I am on many a forum where i have sold lots of different things but i have never encounted something like this where you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can post a for sale item, seems weird to me but i guess im not running the forum i just have to abide by their rules. I know myself id rather see lots and lots of for sale items then none at all and im big enough and smart enough to work out if i should hand over money for something or not.

Plenty of forums around where you need a minimum quantitty of posts to be eligble to post stuff for sale so it is not exclusive to PP.

          Rules are here: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?t=13436
You should read them before posting something for sale, you need 15 posts minimum. Starting a useless thread like this one, which is bound to be locked, isn't the best way to build up your post count. Nor will it endear you to the forum. I suggest you kick back, relax, introduce yourself in the introductions thread, tell us a bit about yourself, ask a question or two, do a few searches and before you know it you'll have the minimum requirements. It's really not much to ask for, this is a very informative forum, filled with all sorts of people that are willing to help you out. If that's too much trouble then there's always eBay.

Could always be thankful you didn't get slapped with an infraction for not sticking to the easily found rules.. Bottom line doesn't matter how long you have been here, if your not posting and being a part of the forum then .... Why... Should we sell your item? Two way street...

I think saying that you joined over a year would be more correct, 8 posts in that time doesn't really make you a "member" of the forum. Remember the old saying, you can only get back what you put in, so why should you get free advertising with little or no input into the forum? Personally I think 15 posts for free advertising is far too low, too easy for someone to put up 15 BS posts just for the free advertising!

I do recall wanting to sell a Handwinch when I first joined and I couldn't for the life of me think how I was ever going to get 15 posts Made it to 15 posts, met all the criteria and sold the winch to a happy PP member, its that easy.

              Cheers Andrew

Matt, those greyhounds are scared of rabbits and the jousting sticks are just cue sticks with the chalking ends missing!

Take MLC for example as he has 2761 bs posts.
Has he sold his exhaust yet Surely all those posts will help sell that rusty dirty bent up piece of pipe

Not all of them are bs. I'm sure I could find a few that are helpful, insightful, and worth a read. Maybe, if I look hard.

I think this thread has reached its conclusion... For sale rules are there, have been for a long time, not muched has changes... I think there is also something in the rules regarding "meaningful thread names"? But that would be off topic...
