A MAN has made a miraculous escape after a ute ploughed into a caravan on the Warrego Highway, trapping him inside.
Emergency crews were called to the Warrego Highway, east of Warra, at about 3pm today. The Department of Community Safety confirmed no one was injured or taken to hospital.A witness told The Courier-Mail the ute slammed into the back of the caravan that had pulled up at a set of temporary traffic lights set up at a road works site.Jack Connell, who runs Connell Transport with his brother Stephen, said his truck drivers had been complaining about the traffic lights for weeks. He said the lights were set up on a 100km/h stretch of road with minimal warning to motorists."We've nearly hit cars there a lot," he said."We've put trucks off the road and into the cable drain to avoid a stationary car.
"It's not safe and this is the perfect example of what will happen."Mr Connell said his brother, who was there as emergency services personnel worked to free the man, told him the ute driver was not badly hurt."He could hear him in there and he was yelling out that he was alright," he said.
